Yes, use a pizza stone and pick up a oven thermometer that you can hang on the inside of the oven to get a true oven temp because the oven dial isn't known to be very accurate -- some are though.

Try a couple layers of foil shiny side down on the heat shield above the burner ring. It's worked for me in both of the campers we have owned.

You don't have to spray this nor worry about quick clean-up nor its weight since you don't cook on it.

We have a pizza stone that we used for years in our last trailer that has moved into our new one, still works great and we use the oven a lot. We use it as described here and also to bake pizza and other things directly on. There is a process for "seasoning" the stone that helps keep it from breaking, also makes it relatively non-stick and easy to clean. Oven thermometer very helpful, as dial not always accurate.

That's 12/12 box go to a Home Depot Lowes tile center and get some 4 x 4 non-glazed floor tiles, you'll need 4, you will make a cooking stone, you'll go through less propane and cook more efficiently

I have checked at several Home Depot's and Lowe's and they don't seem to have the unglazed tile. I ask for terracotta unglazed tile. Maybe I am asking for the wrong thing. They look at me like I am an 'alien'! I guess combing my hair might help ! I will check again and ask for non-glazed and see what I can find.

The air cookie sheet sounds like a good idea too!

Thanks for all this help on this forum.

My wife uses a upside down muffin pan with a cookie pan on top of that. Biscuits come out perfect every time.

Use of a broiler pan under the cookie sheet works great

I still want to try the unglazed tiles, but we have a really nice convection toaster oven that sat on a shelf in the pantry. We took that with us last trip. I'm so glad we did. Have plenty of storage under the table seat.

We cook bacon in the oven and this works great cooking outside.

Ordered a 12 X 15" pizza stone this morning from Amazon for $22. In a Big Lots store just now and saw a 15" round for $10. Wish I had seen that one first.

Every pizza stone vs unglazed tile thread needs someone to come along and state "the reason you want unglazed tiles is because the glaze may contain toxins such as lead"

So having said that, ya'll carry on.

I use the unglazed ceramic tiles in my oven. Helps, but still touchy. Hard as I try if we bake biscuits, the bottoms are always real crispy.

Burning everything in the oven

I was also having problems with things burning. After reading this thread, I went to a floor covering store and purchased an unglazed tile and put in the bottom of the stove on top of the metal heat diffuser as suggested. The first time I used it, the tile cracked in two, as several said it would. The pizza on the rack, though, cooked to perfection with no burning. Made a big difference. I just moved the pieces of tile back together. Great solution to the problem.
