Cable TV

Help, how do I get cable TV to work on my 2014 Chaparral 5th wheel. I thought I had it al hooked correctly but nothing happens. The owner's manual only helps with the antenna

Look where your TV connection goes into the wall. There should be a button with a light. You need to have the button either in or out depending on whether you want cable or antenna. Don't forget to switch your TV from antenna to cable as well (in the TV set up menu)

Hope that helps

We ran into a new problem with cable TV early this season. We stopped at an up-market "resort", only to find the TV service was not available. It turned out that the local cable company had been taken over by Comcast, whose signal is a proprietary digital format for which each TV set has to have a Comcast decoder and a Comcast remote.

We're familiar with Comcast TV, as we have it at home. I was gob-smacked that Comcast hadn't explained to the CG owners what the ramifications of the take-over were. It's becoming increasingly common to be unable to get over-the-air or cable at CG's these days.

We never upgraded our system (used RV purchase) to handle digital OTA, as we don't watch very much TV when we're on the road and usually stay at places where cable is available. Based on our experience, I'd suggest asking when you check in to see what their cable TV situation is.
