Camper cooling strategies

When boondocking with a generator - Say its 80 degrees F outside , we are parked in partial sun. When running the A/C should we keep the ceiling vents open( we have the Maxxair vent covers ) ? Seems logical because the cooler air is falling and the hot air can naturally rise up and out the vents.
We wont be at the camper all day, ( we'll be at the beach ) but when we return will prolly fire up the gen and cool it down. Just checking.
Any other tips?
thnx !
