Can an iRV 33 support a subwoofer?

Hello,

I would like to upgrade my stock speakers to better quality 2 way speakers and would also like to add a small 8" powered sub-woofer for a bit more low end sound. Does the iRV33 have a sub-woofer output in the rear?

If not, then what would be my options? How would I wire it in? I doubt I could just splice the L & R speaker wires?

Has anyone added a sub-woofer to their iRV system?

Thanks,

Vin.

I know several roo owners who have added a subwoofer to their irv 33. I believe it the connection is in the back and works with zone 1.

I plan to pull mine this weekend so I can verify if no one else chimes in.

The irv33 specs state it supports 2.1 surround sound, so yes there should be a subwoofer output on the unit.

irv33&ssubwoofer

If it's 2.1, that sounds like stereo with a subwoofer there is no surround sound. you need at least 4 channels to have surround sound.

That is awesome. Thank you so much everyone.

It was the .1 that I was interested in. 2.1 is fine by me for the pop up.

I will run a subwoofer line out of the back to a subwoofer I plan on putting below the dinette. I will also be replacing the factory speakers with a better set of 2-way speakers.

I am also going to run an HDMI cable from the back of the unit to the TV. I am not a fan of the RCA jacks they used to connect.

Thanks everyone.

Hello, you can also purchase a speaker level to line level .775 V adaptor and splice into your speakers lines if needed. A car stereo shop should have these.

I am not familiar with that?

How do I read your post to search? is the term "speaker level to line level .775V adapter"? Can you explain that a bit?

Does it take the lower level sounds going to the speaker and divert it to a subwoofer? Would one splice in to just one side? Like only the left or only the right channels?

A line level converter is a item that takes high speaker levels and converts them to low level amplifier input. You shouldn't need to go this route but it is something keep in mind especially if they did something strange like a high output to the subwoofer.
It is very possible to create surround sound from 2 channels under the right conditions. If it was me I wouldn't try it in a pop-up but I doubt this stereos have the logic to do phase shifting.

There are not 1 but 2 subwoofer connections coming from the back of my IRV 33. I swapped mine out on a warranty issue and noticed the connection. 2 green wires subwoofer 1 and 2. Good luck on your upgrade!

Can always look in to having a powered car sub installed with a level knob. Kicker, Alpine, Kenwood, etc all make power sub boxes.
