ATT Roams to Rogers in Canada. Check your provider and your plan for what is allowed.

I know there was a recent article on www.rvmobileinternet.com. Don't know if it was a members-only article or not.

most US cell carriers have a north american plan or a US and Canada plan. This allows you to use your phone in Canada for a reasonable price. Data, however, is generally another issue. The current data rate for Verizon subscribers in Canada is $2.05 a MB, which is highway robbery. Verizon now has a deal where you can get all of your US services in Canada for $2.00 a day. If you use them you pay, if not you pay nothing. I am sure that AT&T has the same sort of options.

X 2. That's where you find out that the "free wifi" that the park advertises but that is really nonexistent is very expensive to replace.

Consider going to Walmart and buying a pre-pay phone for Canada.
ATT can extend your coverage to include Canada month by month.

If you have a mobile share plan at AT&T you may be able to add Canada roaming. You get free talk and text and 1 GB of data per phone. Here's a link with more info:

AT&T Canada Roaming Bonus

I did this a few weeks ago even though I don't have any plans to travel to Canada at the moment. The rep was very helpful. She just checked if I was eligible and added it to each of my phones.

I have an AT&T GoPhone and just got back from a trip to Alaska and back which required driving through most of Canada. If you have the $60 per month GoPhone plan, that includes unlimited talk, text and data (first 6 GB at high speed) in the USA and Canada. I did not receive any extra charges for data while in Canada even though I used quite a bit of it. As someone else mentioned, AT&T partners with Rogers to provide coverage in Canada. Coverage in most of Canada was fairly decent but there was no coverage in the Yukon (directly north of British Columbia) even though the AT&T coverage map shows there is coverage in some spots in the Yukon. I stopped at a cell phone store in the Yukon to ask why I was not receiving any coverage in the Yukon and they explained that Rogers does not operate in the Yukon so the AT&T phone would not work there. I have since contacted AT&T engineering to have them correct their coverage maps based on my 1st hand experience of AT&T cell phone service driving through most of Canada.

Went to Canada last fall and out to Fundy Bay. Stopped at a Walmart to buy a prepaid cell and they told us that you now have to be a legal resident in Canada to have a cell!!!

Three people at the counter all agreed while we thought that was odd. Perhaps it was only in eastern Canada

To clarify, both AT&T and T-Mobile have some plans that allow you to use your phone in Canada just like in the U.S. but you need to make sure you have the proper plan. Not all plans at either AT&T or T-Mobile allow free use of your cell phone in Canada.
