Another Lemon

Just found this sight and it's great. Mine has been acting up also. My problem is we live in Ca. and bought the trailer new last July in Texas. Dealer in Texas never returned my call. I have emailed Jeff at Forrest River twice now and no reply. Does anyone have a phone numberto get ahold of him? The Monitor doesn't work in the trailer(12V) or with the adapter, and the sytem has a mind of it's own. Will be keeping an eye on this thread.
Thanks for any help

Here is what I did to fix my Concertone!

This is a JVC head unit for a car with a CD player. my neighbor who can do just about anything with wood made a plate to cover the old Concerthole! LOL. I use an adapter to get the DVD audio to the front aux. in jack on the radio. I also wired in an old Sony amp I had laying around to power the subs in the ceiling.

Since I don`t have the A,B,C speaker switches any more I wired in these Radioshack switches to turn on and off the outside speakers and inside rear speakers. to turn off the inside front speakers i just fade the radio to rear only. this way the sound will only be outside.

I have a total of $105 in this fix and the sound from it is worlds better. and it picks up stations much clearer now.

just a short update. my new unit is still working fine. i think it actually sounds better than it ever had. it might be in my head though. i was talking to my dealer today and rockwood sent him 12 new style radios free of charge. he had been paying about 380 for all the other ones and reimbursed when the old ones are returned for warr. has any one else had any luck getting a brand new style unit? this is not one of the refurbished units. so far i am happy.

Just an update on the POS Concertone. I replaced it again on 4/2/08, this is POS #3. Everything worked great until this past weekend on a trip to FL. It started making a noise that's almost like a pop but it's not. My DW said it sounds like the water is dripping. yes it's constant and steady, not real loud, but very annoying at low sound. Turn the volume up and you can drown it out, but then the TV/DVD is too loud. I plan on pulling it out today and checking the wiring, maybe installing a terminal strip and getting rid of the wire caps. May just bypass the Concetone, wire up the Venturer for TV/Cable get a small DVD player and see how we like it. But I've also been thinking of replacing it with the Jenson or Kenwood units, just depends on the $$$. Wasn't really planning on spending my stimulus check replacing the Concertone. Been checking out a Trek 7.3FS
Will let yall know how the Concertone works out.

Get the Trek!!! (Is it a FS or a FX? Road or Mt.?)

We also had a problem with our Concertone POS. Our's was that if you listened to a FM radio station for a long time, like 2 hours or more, the sound would gradually get garbled and unlistenable. This happened on strong or weak stations. The other functions worked fine. Our 2008 model 2701SS was built in November of 2007 so it has the 22 inch digital TV monitor and probably the newer Concertone. I like the TV so much that I've been watching the Stanley Cup and Indy Car races in the trailer and the sound from the Concertone is fine in the TV and DVD mode.

We took the trailer in for warrenty service yesterday and they are supposed to replace the Concertone. We'll see.

We just had our 3rd Concertone go out. The first 2 the CD player wouldn't work. This time the unit will not turn on although the unit light is on. We checked our fuse and the units fuse and they are both good. Anyone have any ideas. Our dealer won't replace it again even though it is less than a year old.

Zack, is it the ZX600? I had that problem last time out--light was on, but nothing else--I pulled the fuse from the main panel for a minute, then reinstalled it and the unit worked fine all weekend. Will try it again in a couple of weeks to see if it happens again.

We tried that with the fuse in the main panel of the camper but not with the fuse in the stereo itself. Ours is a ZX500

your dealer is wrong, they must replace if unit is under a year, it has 1 year parts and labor, if they play games, try to contact FR, they will have you send yours and send you a new one

I don't know if it makes a differance but our 5th wheel. is 3 years old but this is our 3rd concertone and the concertone unit was replaced last season. It seems that they only last a year or less. We will try FR thanks for your input!

Hi Jeff, Just to clarify on my Concertone warranty, what will the new one be? The book says 1 year or is this incorrect?

Thanks

It's a Trek FS road bike w/ flat bars. Also like the Giant OCR 2 road bike.
But either way it's $600.00-800.00 that I could use on my TT and neither bike will tow it, the weight police will come down hard if I didn't have a good WD setup on it. But if I ride it to work everyday it will pay for itself in less than 2 months. Hopefully I'll figure a way to fix the Concetone problem and still be able to get a new bike.

Improved Reception?

I have a 08 Cardinal 312bhle. I also have the hissing surround sound but also have very bad reception on the tv and radio.

Will the "new improved" POS Concertone fix the reception problem as well???

It's very frustrating that I spent all this money on a so called top of the line 5vr and I am having this problem along with others.

I love the floor plan and the unit but am wondering if mine was built first thing monday morning or friday afternoon???

Thanks, Randy

Really Weird

I don't know what happened but when I tried the radio tonight the reception was excellent, same as my truck, and the hissing sound was gone. The TV reception was excellent as well. I wish I had enough faith that it was going to stay this way but judging by the amount of people that have had problems with these units I don't. I am going on vaca next week so will have lots of chances to try it. Will keep you all posted.

My 2006 Concertone is now working flawlessly and keeping fingers crossed. When they do work they are an amazing unit. Surround sound has better separation than my home$$$$$ unit.
