Concertone

It is not hard to change out the units. If you can follow the wiring diagram on the top of your existing unit once you remove it, it will be a piece of cake. It is important though to make sure your new unit is 12 volt. The new ZX 700 seems to work great so far for us.

Is the ZX 700 built by concertone? Where did you obtain it, and at what cost?

I'm on my 3rd one and it's just so, so. When a DVD movie is playing there is a constant
background noise. The FM radio is weak and only picks up strong stations.
I've checked the antenna connection and yes it's plugged in tight.

I would never buy another one. If I could get my money back I'd definitely go out and
get a good car/van type DVD/AM/FM/MP3 radio and go that route.
Maybe something like the Jensen AWM970.
If you're interested, go to Ebay.com and search for Jensen AWM970
They are a good looking unit!! They're made for RVs.
I think I saw one for well under $300 a few months back but none
there today.

We have heard of folks who installed a little 12v computer cooling fan in the
Concertone enclosure. They do get very hot and since yours will play for a while maybe it's getting too hot.

Good luck!

Follow up on the Jensen.
A year ago I found it new in warranty on Ebay for under $200.
The one's there today are over $300 ;-((
I'd shop around on Google and check ebay often if you're interested in one.
Here is a link to the past sale.

You can see it is a good looking unit.
You could maybe contact the seller and ask if he's got any more....

As you may guess, I really want one of these but I've got to wait until
my Concertone give out or my lottery numbers hit!

Good Luck!

Zx 700

I got my ZX 700 from Forest River after they had replaced my bad ZX 600 with another unit that still had problems. They initially told me the "700" would not work as a replacement but after a detailed "grilling" from me they agreed to send me the ZX 700 if I would replace it myself. It was really a piece of cake as long as you can read a simple diagram and are not color blind. The connectors are different so it is not just unplugging the old one and plugging in the new one. You just have to match the colors of the wire up and strip the wire ends and twist together with a wire nut. If you are in doubt you can take a 9 volt battery and touch the positive and negative speaker wires to the correct polarity on the battery and it will make the speaker pop so you can determine you are working on the correct speaker. If the speaker is wired correctly and you have the battery attached correctly the speaker cone will move forward. I am always glad to help if you have more questions.
