concertone

We purchased a 07 flagstaff with concertone radio/dvd/cd/tv player. After playing 1 cd, the player quit. In checking website, found product seemed faulty with no real repair being done. Checked our unit found a multitude of wires due to the many speakers etc. for the unit. Found a capacitor with rubber heat shield rated to 200 degrees. I couldn't touch it due to the heat. I didn't want that kind of heat hidden in a paneled and glued compartment so I disconnected the unit and used a supplied 110v to 12 v adapter to run tv. This worked for 6 months and then the tv picture quit. We have not gone to the dealer because the complex wiring of the unit seemed more than the average rv repairman could handle and we didn't like the high temp of the capacitor, so we didn't want a replacement. My only recommendation is if you are puchasing an rv and have the option of no concertone, take it.

I have a Concertone CD/MP3/Radio/WX system...no TV/DVD.
The system works pretty well so far.

I have read many complaints of faulty units (same model as yours) on different forums. Seems like FR is replacing newer ones under warranty...but that's about it.

With heat build up like that...I think you did the right thing. I'd have it worked on by the dealer to avoid fire.

Concertone=junk!
we are on our 3rd unit so far so good. the original one went out the day after we picked up the TT when new. the 2nd replacement was no good from the start. and so far the 3rd has been good since the beginning of the year.

On a new '07 - I sure woundn't let FR or the dealer off the hook on replacing defective unit - even if you aren't going to use it - it should be there for resale down the road. May be a lot of wires but not very complex compared to other critical pieces of an RV (Furnace, AC, electric brakes). Dealer most likely simply unplugs old unit and plugs in new. My '03 works fine - not worth the suggested retail value but functional. Even on new cars the sounds systems are marginal and overpriced 4 fold.

I don't think that's the problem. The Concertone is located about 2 feet above the floor...in other words...it's not grandaughter-proof!

Mine plays Cassettes! Cool huh!!?? So I have been going through boxes in storage trying to find my old High School tapes!! YES!!

The Subwoofer will not work - about to trade for a regular Car stereo (Has any one put a regular one in? Doesn't seem any different if we get a Automobile radio right? Am I missing something? Does it take too much juice?

Should be the same. Most car speakers are 8 ohm. Just check and verify before you commit to any speaker. You could cause problems to your stereo by not matching up the impedence.

I remember I'm a Ham (KD7GNY) so I will get something figured out - just like things to work right the first time and not sure why campers don't just come with a nice auto stereo - not a silly, expensive, odd shaped excuse for a stereo.

Well I’m new at this, we have a 2006 Flagstaff, and or Concertone Radio/dvd/cd/tv player so far works fine up front. Our first time out we thought it would play a dvd to the back TV guess not??? Unless were doing something wrong ???

Concerttone

We just purchased a 04 Salem last weekend with the radio system and surround sound. The CD player, and AUX options wont work, and we didnot havethe ability to test it before taking the trailer home.
obviously im out of warranty.. and I think as a factory option of $175 is a rip off. does anyone know where any "good" used ones might be? Suggestions for a decent replacement? I have 3 kids that love movies, and its nice to have the surround system working. Plus it drowns out the wife

Looks like you put in a small vent back there is that right? Where would I get this kind of vent? I think I could do this. Thanks
