Thanks everyone for your thoughts, prayers and kind words! I look forward to sharing grand kid stories in Branson and beyond!

Currently, Landon is recovering from surgery to repair his esophagus. His first few days after surgery went well, but for the last four days his breathing rate has been greatly increased and they really don't know why. I am sure with a feeding tube, a chest tube and an IV line he is a bit agitated, anxious and in pain!

HOPEFULLY, he passes his "swallow test" tomorrow and then his first two feedings by mouth go well (with no leakage to the repair as seen thru the chest tube) so he can then get at least the feeding & chest tube removed! Then he can snuggle into his mother's arms and feel the love we all feel for him! I am sure that will calm him down substantially.

So thanks again and keep those prayers coming!

Update:

Thankfully Landon was stable this past week and I was able to attend several important business meetings and now after a road trip from Boston to Elkhart (to finish preparation) to Bowling Green, KY to Marion, NC to Charlottesville, VA and finally back to Boston I am heading into see my grandson soon! I can't wait to see him again because we can hold him finally!!!

He had a great week in that he passed his tests on Wednesday and they finally removed his chest tube on Wednesday evening. That 1/4" piece of pvc tubing sticking through his rib cage had to be very painful! This along with his mother now being able to hold him will certainly help him recover faster now!

So now, he we need to fatten him up so he is ready for heart surgery asap. Once we get that operation over with, we will all breath easier.

Thanks again for your prayers!

Man, I had a fantastic day visiting Landon in the Neonatal ICU yesterday!

I am so proud of his mother (my daughter) and he is doing great. They have removed all of his tubes and IVs except his feeding tube and he looks fantastic.

I held him for about thirty minutes and he was talking to me, telling me all kinds of stories! He then went to sleep in my arms & holding my finger. I tried to hide my tears, but I showered him with joy! (no worries, I am not a man afraid to show tears!)

It is hard to believe he was two weeks old last night. We have already been through a lifetime ups and downs (along with heart surgery to follow), but he is amazing and I look forward to a lifetime of experiences with him (and all the others to follow). God is good, all the time!

Thanks all!

just read thru your posts - Glad to hear he is doing well - like stated - keep a positive outlook and our lord and savior will take care of him - God bless and will pray that the heart surgery goes well and he has a speedy recovery.

BTW congrats on being a grandpa

I understand how difficult it can be - my 4 year old was a high risk pregnancy and they though she was going to need open heart surgery when she was born - doc said her heart was enlarged to one side - after she was born the heart bounced back into it's correct shape - found out it was due tomom's high blood pressure that cause the heart to be enlarged on one side and she is doing well.

Glad to hear it sherdep!

Not sure if you caught that my wife & me have 7 kids. Thats right 7! And we took them all camping in first a 26" Honey Class C and then a 26' Innsbrook.

I just found out from my wife, still back in Massachusetts that we will be having a big meeting in the hospital with ALL the doctors next Tuesday. I feel like sometimes there are so many specialists that sometimes all the information is not being properly communicated. ESPECIALLY to the parents!

I will keep you posted and I will try and post a picture if I can figure that out...

Bob,

Congratulations and don't worry, everything will be fine. I was born over two months early and weighed less than 2lbs. I am now 45 years old and I am 6'6" 250lbs.
I actully dropped to under 1.5 lbs and I was given last rights by a Priest, and here I am today. I was kept breathing by a hose that dropped scolding hot water on me and when the water burned, I would gasp for air. There wer burns all over my body from the hot water drip. Maybe that is why I sun burn so easy.... Best wishes to you and your family all will be fine! Medicine has advanced quite a long way in the last 45 years.

Dan
