Concertone. Has FR seen the light?

I was so pleasantly surprised to see that my new Surveyor was not equipped with the same horrible Concertone radio/CD player as my old Surveyor. My Jensen unit is exactly the same as the one in my friend's 25-foot Bigfoot, which I consider top-of-the line in camper quality.

My question is has Forest River finally seen the error of its ways in using the Concertone equipment or do some trailers still come with it? By the way, I like the Jensen television, as well.

Also have the Jensen unit and although it works as advertised, I must admit the 4 small speakers are horrible(2013 Salem TBud)

Does anyone know whether Forest River has dropped the Concertone equipment altogether? Or do just some of the brands now include the Jensens?

I like the stereo as well but I noticed on the instructions that it was supposed to have an ipod hookup in the back. Ours is completely set back in the wall so their is no access to the alleged hookup. Has anyone pulled thiers out to see if it is really back there?

From what I have seen, Forest River seems to be inconsistent about what unit goes in. BTW, if you don't like your speakers, check them, they are probably not Jensen sourced?

Without being able to look right now, it seems that mine has a USB port on the front. Could you plug an iPod into that? It's on the bottom right.

i will say that since Concertone hired Bob Fields, complaints have dropped drastically.
the newer 800 model with Bluetooth, has had only a handful of issues.

You can hook up an iPod to the USB port but it will be in mass storage mode. This means you can only play folders and it is very difficult to use (better to used the output jack and the stereo as your speakers). With the proper ipod hookup, you can use your remote control and adjust it normaly. Not a big deal but I would like to know before I take it out. I would run a perm. connection if I knew it was there. I will get brave eventully and pull it out.

Gotta tell ya, I've had very little or no issues with my concertone. It is in no way a Bose system, but........the sound is good both in and outside, and with the surround sound for a movie.......life is good!

I had a problem with my Concertone and it turns out it was the wiring. FR's fault.

I know what you mean about taking it down to look at the hindquarters. Also, thanks for the technical info. I didn't know that.
