Concertone help

I have a zx75 should this unit be able to operate on 12volt (battery)?

It will only work when I'm plugged into 120v.

On 12volt power only, just the power light is on but unit will not turn on,anyone have any idea's?

All concertones are 12v, you can try and do a reset. This is a dumb question, but you are pushing that red button to turn it on correct? The radio is wired hot for the memory.

Yes.but why would it work fine when plugged into 120v.
On 12volt just the power button is lit, won't turn on.
Without me digging out my Manual and me not being in front of it right now,do you know this procedure by chance.(boston bruins are on.)

Bob Fields who is a Forum member may be able to assist. He works for Concertone.
His forum handle is Bob Fields.

I just sent Bob a message to come here and help you.

The Concertone in our previous Roo23SS acted similar. It was DOA with the red light on... Solution was to remove the 12V power supply from the head unit and let is discharge any voltage. From what was explained to me, low voltage or the temporary flicker of voltage from the converter when plugging in can cause these units to hang up. I had to "reset" ours a handful of times over the four seasons we owned it.

As a easier fix, I added a momentary (NC) switch to the cabinet panel near the unit... of course since there was a easy method to reset - it never hung up again.

IIRC there are two snap on plastic endcaps, there are four square drive screws below that hold the unit. It is smaller than you would think once you remove it.

Hope this might solve your issue.

dtb7811,

Sorry to hear you are having issues.

I don't recall the issue dieselbobcat mentions above affecting the ZX75. Your issue sounds like you might have a bad ground as the unit is not powering up on 12Volt only. I would check all your grounds from the battery, to chassis to behind the radio. On 120V the converter is putting out enough juice to overcome or bypass the issue. Thats where I would start.

Also bikendan is correct, I no longer work with Concertone, but happy to help out where I can. Just remember I am a forum member, not a supplier employee! :-)

Happy camping!

Bob Fields, I have the ZX400 in my Wildcat, I have noticed that the SETUP button does nothing and has no explanation in the manual, also the manual says something about a TIME menu after holding down the SOUND button but that doesn't exist either on my radio. Care to comment on these two issues?

flyguy, The zx400 was an old model when I had joined the company so I was not super familiar with it. Sorry I cannot help with that. :-(

This resolved my issue. I had disconnected shore power, and then the 12V battery. After hooking everything back up, just the power light on the ZX400 Concertone. All I had to do was remove a panel from behind the unit, disconnect the 12 V connector (2 pin black and red wires), reconnect, and presto!!!
