Concertone is silent. Thinking about a Jensen.

At the end of last season our Concertone ZX700 one day started to develop static in all the speakers when the radio was playing, then suddenly we heard a pop sound and all went quiet! The unit itself still had all the lights working, the and tuner display lit up as if it were playing but no matter what my DH did could we get the sound working. We tried to reset it but to no avail. This unit is out of warranty (it was on its third season but was actually used very little). This was our second unit. The first one died on our very first trip out and was replaced under the warranty. We have been researching units to replace this with and have been looking at a Jensen AWM970. Does anyone have any experience with this unit? We would like to hear from the people who actually use the unit as opposed to the ones who sell them. Thanks for any help offered.

Have you talked to member Bob Fields?

He may be able to help and is our "go between" with the Concertone factory.

The last time I check Concertone is owned by Forest River, so good luck. I have a Jensen in mine and so far it works very well.
A few years ago I was going to change out the Concertone for a Bose's system, but I couldn't see doing that for a camper.

I was thinking about checking with him but didn't do so because of the "out of warranty" status. I read the Concertone thread (#2) and had noted some others with the somewhat similar problems but had not seen a possible fix for the "silence" issues. Maybe I will send him an inquiry and see if anything comes of it. I would certainly love to fix what we have instead of putting out money for a new unit, so I guess I have nothing to lose by asking a question. Thanks for your suggestion!

Glad to hear that your Jensen has not given you any problems thus far. I agree that a Bose would be great but that would have to wait until we were full-timers! LOL.

We are not retired yet but maybe in the next 5 years LOL, and I am sorry to say that when we sold our house last year I left a Bose system with the house and that's because I was tired of packing and it was a surprise for the people that bought our house, they where happy....

I have addressed this before - Concertone is NOT owned by Forest River.

Have you tried removing the fuse for one minute and try again...

Bob,
I thought I had already tried that but to make sure I went out again today and removed the fuse, removed all the connections actually, put it back together and turned it back on. With the volume turned up at full high, Zone A is dead, no sound at all. Zone B & C, with volume on full high, will yield a very low volume with continuous muffled static (if this makes sense). It is almost as if someone were holding a cloth over the speakers. I am not sure what else we could try but, as mentioned prior, the unit hardly had any hours on it at all. We were actually in the middle of listening to it when it went silent. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I had a Concertone ZX75 that went bad within a few weeks of my new camper purchase. It never sounded good from day 1. It was replaced under warranty with a new Genesis 2.0 system that sounded better, but still not great. I enjoyed the Bluetooth capabilities of the Genesis, but the sound was lacking even after re-wiring a few of the speakers that were hooked up out of phase from the factory. I now have a Jensen AWM970 and it sounds so much better, I do miss Bluetooth though. I don't think you'll be disappointed if you replace the Concertone with the Jensen.
