Angry Concertone- JUNK SUPREME

I haven't used my new 2009 Lexington once! The replaced ZX600 doesn't play CDs or DVDs same as first!! Now reading other posts, Bob Fields says I have to take it back to dealer!! Dealer is 90 miles away & involves 2 trips!! What a kiss off! There has to be a better replacement system then this POS!

I totally understand your frustration.
I went through the process three times.
My dealer was only 60 miles away though.
My unit would work for a month or two and then give up the ghost.
After the last failure I jerked it out and when another direction.
If you are still under warranty then you might ask forest river if they will give you a new unit.
The 600 is problematic and they know it.
I hear that the next model series is supposed to be a better unit.

If you are under warranty you are going to have to play the game.
Believe me, I tried everything I could but they have to follow their policy of bring it in and we will look at it.

I know you are upset but Bob is your best bet for direction on handling this issue.
He wasn't around when I went through my ordeal.

Hang in there, call FR and voice your frustration.
Maybe your result will be better than mine.

why don't you just take it out and have the dealer pay to get it shipped to them or Concertone for a replacement.

it's very easy to take them out.

Ask FR to provide you a Jensen, there are using these now on some of the TT.
Jensen AWM970IP Wall Mounted DVD CD USB AM/FM iPod Ready Stereo Camper Trailer RV even if there is a slight cost difference it would be worth it to avoid the Concertone issues that seem to come up here. BTW we have had TT's with both of these units and no problems with either one, (lucky I guess).

We have only had the video jumping issue with ours. So long as I can listen to music in the background I am happy. I don't go camping to watch the t.v. I have had the Jensen brand as well and they are just as much garbage as the next. any company under the flag of audiovox has a thumbs down from me.

My dad was a gospel minister for 50 years and he used to use this phrase to describe something that had died.
To "give up the ghost" means to give up its spirit and die.

Take it out yourself and UPS it to the dealer.
It SUCKS that you have to go thru your dealer to get warranty work.
If your fridge or roof AC goes out you can go to any "authorized"
dealer to get warranty work done.

Concertone wants you to go back to the seller to get warranty
work done.
I don't know why they won't help you.

I disagree with the ones who say the Jensen's aren't any better.
I personally went thru 3 concertones and all died or had serious
issues.
I paid my own UPS charges each time to ship them back to
my selling dealer a half day drive away.
I bought a Jensen and the first one is still working-- imagine
that.

Have you corresponded with Bob Fields privately yourself???
Calm down and talk nice, you might be surprised.
Give it a try.

Respectfully KyDan, from personal experience in the marine markets, where Jensen in very popular, they are just as bad or good, as anything in that price range.

Problem is that happy Concertone users do not post of their positive experiences. And even if they did, it's always more interesting to hear of problems others are having....

I wish we had a car audio manufacturer offering an RV solution, e.g same form factor. They're made in the millions and work pretty good - taking under consideration that autos have shock absorbers and soft suspension. But the volume for them is too low I guess, or something.

Remember the days of cheap car radios ?

Totally agree, also there are other brands of RV's out there that have very high prices that the sound systems do not even have a name on them or any way to contact tech support other than through your dealer.

You do have other options, car radio mfgs make boat systems as well but you will lose the DVD, at least on the systems i have seen. But here are some samples, Sony, Alpine, Clarion, and they have the same form factors as Jensen and Concertone. Marine Receivers at Crutchfield.com

Happy shopping

There is one with a DVD, http://www.crutchfield.com/s_020CMV1...rch=marine+dvd.

Now let's see by the replies what my choices are on this matter. But first I have had this Lexington 7 months & not ONE night spent in it! Dealer issues on Forest River bad manufacturing & northern Minnesota winter! If you want, read my posts under Lexington.
Anyway, I could either take the rig back to the dealer or I might be able to just send it to them. But chances are I would get a bad unit in replacement. This could keep up until my warranty expires on 9-15. At that time I could just tell myself it was OK to spend the money( $1695 includes 26" LCD TV)on a theater pkg entertainment system. And just be a nice guy that don't need the noise. Or buy a repacement.
I think someone is recycling bad units, either Forest River or Concertone or both. My unit will work for a short time if I cut the power to it. So when these units are sent in & tested , they test find & are sent out to another fool!
I had a 2004 Winnebago Adventurer (bought new) that came with a Magnadyne radio. They were so bad that Winnebago dumped them & went with Jensen. That only took 2 years for Winnebago to get wise. After a couple of replacements, I finally changed to a Jensen on my own cost. Only problem I had with it was it always turned on at about 3/4 volume. What the reason?? But guess what brand of cab radio I have in this Ford E450? That's right, a Magnadyne which I had to have replaced already!!
I am not just going lay down & do as some manufacture tells me to do!!
Camper-Lucy, is that a picture of a Golden retriever pup? I do love that breed of dog!

Just an note on replacing the unit. Everyone seems stuck on the Jensen and I was doing a bit of research as my BIL's new Spree has one. I then noticed they are rated at 22.5wx4 so I snet Jensen an email and well guess what? BTW this is the new unit with HDMI out. So I guess it comes down to what one wants in a unit.

Hello John,

Thank you for contacting ASA Electronics. The AWM975 is not a 5.1 surround sound system. The AWM975 has 3 speaker channels of stereo output. This unit does not have a center or subwoofer output. We currently do not have a DVD/Stereo system with 5.1 surround audio output. Below is a link to the AWM975 on our website.

After the 3rd replacement went bad (all different issues) I replaced it with a car JVC head unit. no more issues and the sound is 1000 time better!

Anyone know what the operating temperature for the ZX600 is? I'm am just having trouble with CD- DVD part. It might play but the sound quits after a few seconds. The CD is still spinning but no sound. But after a few minutes the sound is back & everything is OK! Outside temp is 43 degrees here. Inside the Lexington, which is in a garage, says 55! I put a heat lamp on the unit (which is out) no problems. I can live with a unit that just wants to be warm when played.
Did I hear a fat lady starting to warm up to sing?

DaveT, That is our Golden Retriever "Lucy", unfortunately she is no longer a puppy she is a little over a year and weighs 86lbs. But she has about 14 days of Pheasant hunting in three states under her collar as real working retriever. And is headed to the HRC trials shortly.

Current pics she was only about 60lbs in these;

Camper_Lucy, I'm envious! My Golden is 11 & 14 days of pheasant hunting!!
I have shot 10 species of upland birds over my Golden (Drae is his name) in 4 different states. Goldens are a smart versatile dog! I'm hoping to get another hunting season out of him. At 11, I know there is a very sad teary day coming!
2 Goldens before him, lived to be a month short of 17.
