Concertone like everyone else

Hey guys, I just bought a used 06 31QBSS. It has an older concertone that wont work. I tried 3 cheap x500's I got off ebay and 1 will not pwr up, 1 has hum in sub and odd sounding but appears to function other than that and 1 that I got to work on radio, and will output sound and video to 17 lcd if I use external DVD but will not read from internal DVD. I would like to know what you guys suggest for replacing the unit. Maybe the Jensen unit?? or just go with 110v unit, if I do this what do I do about sound???

Sorry, I am very new to all this especially to forest river...just upgraded from a 1979 Shasta 2500.

Thanks,

I recently bought an SP-189, which came with such a unit. It buzzed horribly when turned on. On removal, I could see it was picking up the sound of its own cooling fan as static through the speakers. Great quality control.

I recently ordered the AWM970 Jensen, and replaced it. All of its functions work, and even plays a local AM station fairly clean even with the Power Converter thing blasting out RFI.

The DVD option presented a wiring problem only because the stereo is over the sink, and I had to snake the video cable to the TV cabinet. However, it works fine as well. The sound over the stereo speakers while playing a movie is nice, since our LCD TV has poor sound.

Ordered it through a web-site called AmericanTrailerSupply.com, and got it for $245, no tax, no shipping.

Took a few minutes of jigsaw action to widen the cabinet opening, and another 10 minutes matching up the wiring. Has more output power, so bass is better, even with the cheap speakers in the ceiling.

Good Luck.

Dave

There are sooo many of us that have had to deal with this isssue.
Becasue of the cabinetry in the trailer, I chose to go with a home DVD system.
Here is the link:

Thanks.
I posted this at work and was rushing so I didn't get a chance to check the links.

Should be good to go now.

I tossed away the Concertone and replaced it with the Jensen AWM970. We were very, very pleased with the difference. I had to rebuild our cabinets to get it to fit right, but most folks seem to have better luck in their locations.

Nice option, did the unit you put in also play radio stations. I guess most modern DVD, Surround Sound systems do. I have the zx700. I am not overly impressed with the sound or output levels. I will use it for now. Thanks for sharing the option.

Were you asking me?
If so..........
Yes it does. It sounds so much better than the original.

If not.....please excuse me.
