Cool down fridge with inverter?

This may be a dumb question, but I'll ask it anyhow..

We possibly getting a 36 CKTS with a residential refrigerator. We have to store our current - and future- rig in storage yard, and typically bring it home the night before a trip to pack it up but mostly to plug in and let the fridge cool down overnight. The unit we are looking at has the residential fridge with inverter. I have read that many posters have experienced a fridge kept cold for up to 36 hours on battery power.

So my question is might I be able to go to storage yard the day/night before departure, make sure inverter is on and battery disconnect off, turn on the empty fridge and let it cool down overnight, without killing the batteries?

Keeping something cold is one thing; getting it cold is another. I've read that some of these residential fridges cool down in about 3 hours. I'm really mostly trying to avoid having to bring the unit home, fighting subdivision traffic while I take my time backing into the drive, etc.

Thanks in advance,

How many batteries does your proposed rig have? Personally I'd be worried about trying to do that. There are lots of stories here on FRF about rigs that don't last for even 8 hours on their batteries.

There are 4 6V batteries in the unit.

BTW, I just noticed typo on my post title; is supposed to be cool "down" not "dorm"!

Highly doubtful, but the answer to that would depend entirely on how much battery you have.

I found this just looking around.

Residential Refrigerator Power Requirements

He seems to be happy, but he also probably has a lot more power available.

EDIT: Walked away before I posted....missed the last few.

You may be Ok then. You could just try it, or you can find the amp-hour capacity of those batteries and the wattage requirement of the fridge and we can make an educated guess.

Our fridge cools down in about 3 to 4 hours, ice making in about 6 hours and the freezer down below 32 degrees in 8 to 10 hours or faster

We love ours and glad it can with it.
Ours came in the Georgetown xl 378
Don't know what size but I would guess 25 cu ft
