Dead Concertone
We have a 2010 831RKSS. We arrived at camp Wednesday and when I went to power up the Concertone for music, nothing happened. The power light is red but is unresponsive. It's worked in the past. Fuses appear to be ok, any ideas? Thanks.

Check the connections on the back. The concertone has a set of short wires from the back of the unit. The installer then hooks the power/ and apeaker wires to that. I have seen very poor use of crimp type connectors at this point. The wires will probably just be hanging in the space behind the concertone. The slack in the wires should really be wire tied in something that is going to be moving and bouncing. Let us know.

good point KBROWN1075: ON my X75 concertone I was able to see the back connections from a removed drawer. And what a mess of wires all hanging down and not even attached. One day I will have to secure all this spagetti city inside the wall.

Thanks, I'll check out the wires.
Chevy, is the fuse an inline behind the unit or are you talking about the main fuse?

locknload, we went thru 3 of those units in three months, the third being the new genisis unit that is working great. we changed them out ourselves and found a rats nest of wires, its not that bad to straighten out, a lot of it fell down behind the t.v. there is an inline fuse, at least there was on ours. one thing we did and it helped alot with the poor reception was to pull the antenna wire out of the mess of wires and coil it up and tie close to the roof under the antenna. good luck.

Thanks Pat.
Would the power button still illuminate red if the fuse was bad? I should be able to take a closer look tomorrow after work or Wednesday.

Locknload,
I have the same symptoms with my Genesis 2.0 - power button is red but unresponsive (although the remote will work the radio). My fuses are fine. I took it into the dealer and they couldn't get it to work either or figure out a reason why. They're ordering me a new radio (under warranty in my case).

The simplest thing to do if the fuse is good and it will not reset is to replace the Concertone with an old AM tube radio! you may have to wait for the tube to warm up but it WILL work! seriously I replaced mine with a JVC headunit designed for a car. much better sound and the surround still works along with the sub in thr ceiling. and I still have the outside speakers working.
