DISH TV account question

Remember me? Mr. "TV Issues Guy"???

Long story short. Have Direct TV at home, had issues getting portable dish to work each time with TT, so am trying out DISH with a Pathway X2 and "DISH Pay As You Go Service".

I activated it for first time May 11. My cycle was May 12-June 11. It worked, generally speaking.......although DISH TV sucks compared to Direct. Local channels are not HD, etc. But regardless of that.

I did NOT pay for June 12-July 12. I didn't use it that period.

I am going camping next week, so I go to my MYDISH online account and it says I owe for TWO months, and one is a back month. Say what???

I call and tell them I want to activate it for this Friday, Aug 1.....for a month. I get 20 minutes of run around and "Let me go ask a supervisor", and then I finally get told I MUST pay for last month that I didn't use (But they'll give me a $33.55 credit, figured by who-knows-how), PLUS all of next month (service till September 11).

I go to their website and read them verbatim what it says about "Only having to pay for service that you use".........to no avail. Now, I understand I have to pay for a full month, can't do partial months. That part I understand.

Here's what I don't get..........I asked the lady........"If I pay this, and activate my service till September 11.........and THEN I decide to not use it at all till next April, 2015....is my account going to show SIX months of 'arrears'??? And if it does, and I want it restored in April, how can I do that? She said "Oh we'll credit you". I said "I don't want to pay for 7 months THEN get six months credit!!!!"............

She was gone for another 10 minutes talking to a Supervisor. Her answer then made even less sense.

So.........for you guys that have a tailgater or carryout, and pay as you go, what happens all winter when you aren't using it? Do you pay for 6-8 months just to get it restored and HOPE that they credit you some magic way?

Next week, I am going to try and re-learn a different way to utilize the Direct TV dish...a trick that a Direct TV tech showed me last week when he came to the house for some inhouse work........and if that works, I'm going to sell the Pathway X2 and trash DISH. But I'm not actually 100% hopeful it will work as he says. But we'll see.

Don't understand what the issue would be, we have dish pay-as-you go and pay for a month in advance, never had a problem, however we do call or online stop the service when not using it. They have always carried forward what part of the unsued portion when we call and have it restarted. Did you ever call and have it stopped when you were not using it?

No. Maybe that's my fault.

I was told by DISHFORMYRV folks that I didn't need to, I asked that specifically. They said "Just don't pay and that month is just wiped out. Then pay when you want to start it". But it doesn't work that way.

I'll call 09/11/2014 and stop it and see if that fixes it. I don't see a way online to stop it.

I have always called to suspend and start service. No problems (yet).

Well, guys.......just got back from camping. This continues to be amazing.

I called DISH to start service before I left. I hadn't used it in two months, and so I didn't pay. They tried to charge me for 3 months before they'd turn it back on. I balked, they finally got someone else, and did it for one month's fee. When they got done, I got online and looked at my account...I paid $81 bucks for a month in advance, but my account showed $31.00 CREDIT balance. Beats me.

OK, fine. I go camping. I can't get a signal on the Pathway X2, so no TV anyway! Bummer. Too many trees. It got one satellite, which is not enough to download a signal and start up.

I get back, and do what y'all said. I get Joe Bozo, barely speaks English. He has no clue. He TRIES, but is lost.

He passes me to some guy who DOES help. He says "No problem. Just call to start, and call to stop. We'll credit what you don't use".

Fine, I say "GO AHEAD. That's what I want". He told me that when I called to ask for the "Loyalty Department". He said most of the normal Call Center first time answer people don't know what "Flex Account" means. I told him that was sad. He told me I was paid up till 09/11 (no clue how that is, but he said three times that was the case).

One hour later I get an email that says 'You have cancelled your Dish Service. We are sorry to lose you', or some such! Geez Louise!

I look online and...........I still have online access, still have an account. But it says "Amount due $0.00. Current Balance $97.38 CREDIT".

So, I guess (?????) that I'm ok, and can start it up next time we go camping......sure hope so, cause I still can't get the Direct TV (which we have at home) physical dish with LNB5 to get a danged signal anywhere hardly! Harder than Chinese Arithmetic.

That's my story. Surely, SURELY, I'm doing something wrong. But folks, I've tried everything. Guidance is welcome.
