Dish TV - pay as you camp
I saw an ad for a Tailgater from dish. It was $500 and you paid $6 a month for the months you used it. You could have them turn it off during winter months. My question is can I get the same deal without buying the Tailgater and just using a dish on a tripod?

Have pay as you go from dish and you do not have to have a tailgater to have the service, just make sure you set up you account as a rv account. But it's more like 39 a month for the basic programing package. We purchased the reciever from CW and leave it in the HM. Think the 6 dollars comes from rental of the reciever from dish.

I purchased the complete kit (Tailgater dish & receiver) from Amazon for $499.00.
The basic programming package from Dish is $39.00 But I had to upgrade to the AT 120+ in order to get my local Fox Sports channel (Whole reason I had to get Dish). That upgrade brought my total to $59.00 a month.

You can buy the reciever at CW for about $135, at $6 a month for rental, your ahead in 22 months. We have the Vip211k HD reciever and a roof mounted winegurd satellite antenna. Works great. Thinking about buying a tailgater or a tripod mounted dish for those times the trees get in the way.

I have been a Dish subscriber for many years, so I just added another receiver for my travel trailer (you have to tell them it's for a TT) and the charge is only $12 a month extra. I use my own single satellite dish on a tripod; the receiver a Dish 322 dual TV model, I bought from Solid Signal for $70.00. You can just bring a receiver from your home and not pay any extra, but I didn't want to do that.

We use ours about 3 months, come home turn it off, a month later or so back on the road and turn it back on. No charges or fees when turning it on or off.

Pay as you go
We have Direct TV for our 5er just for the summer month. Our setup is that Direct TV automatically turns on our service May 1 and turns off automatically Oct 31. We pay monthly fee of 39.00 including box rental. We purchased our own dish for 20.00.

We also change our "service" address by calling dish network to get the local channels no matter were we are at. Just make sure you have an rv account. Once you get about 200 miles or so from home you will not get your local channels without changing "service" address. When in FL we got Miami stations, in TX got Dallas etc. We just use the address of the campground

I have had the Dish 120 account for my home for the last two years. We have one dual receiver that takes care of the living room and den. My wife does not want me to use it for camping because when we are gone our son takes care of the house, yard and dogs for us. So do I need another receiver and an rv account with dish? And any particular kind or model of receiver?
