Does this look right to anyone???
Was troubleshooting my fridge to see why it doesn't work on LP all that well. Opened up the top vent area and found this board across the opening. Now I ask....is this right???

If you look up your fridge model on how to install, I believe it is correct and done to create a chimney effect to get rid of warm air. You probably have one fan behind there and you could add another. That is the way my dometic 2852 install is.Should not be related to propane operation.

Yes. Normal. Mine and many other came like that. There's some discussion here on other frig problem threads. Tho yours does seem higher than usual. I think the ideal is to get the air to pass thru upper fins before exiting the upper vent. I cut mine out when I installed two more fans.

I cut mine out when I installed two more fans.The fridge is much cooler now.

The board is only put there to stop any down draft, Get rid of it because it is causing you not to have a free convection flow or add some fans to overcome the resistance the board is creating. In other words it's stopping the air flow over the coil area or holding it in making your cooling a lot less capible of heat transfer. The more air over the coil the better cooling you will have. Both Decheatwood and Ramblin ricks are correct IMO. But that is just me.

Now that is interesting as there was no upper nor lower baffle behind my frig. I made an upper and now will make a lower one. That looks like a way to get the air to flow thru the fins better as air must flow up right against the back of the frig.

I don't have a lower baffle either. I would be interested to hear how it goes for you. I can see where it would make the air flow more efficient, but also fairly restricted without sufficient secondary draw (fan). It will be interesting to see if efficiency trumps the reduced volume.

Mine had the same thing in it, thought it was weird so I cut it out only to find one little fan behind it, no wonder we couldn't keep ice cream frozen. Well, I spent some time and installed these, haven't been out with it yet, but it's only got to be better, I guess I should have done some more reading up on this, now I need to chek on the baffles. Oh well.

It's not much, .13amps each, made sure I got ball bearing for high life, I ordered them off of newegg.com but I must say I inquired about this project from another member and had already ordered them before I was told about coolerguys.com At coolerguys.com they have all the power boards, extension cables you would need depending on your install. I just used the factory power supply, added a switch to the refrigerator panel. I also put a 4th fan below. I sure hope this helps, we love our ice cream with a spoon, not a straw.

Regarding your switch, you turn yours on and off manually instead of the refrigerator cycling the fans on and off itself? Awesome fan setup, by the way!

Well..had my fridge on LP for 24 hrs. I can put my hand on the canister and it's barlry warm and fridge is warmer. I'm thinking it's more than just and air flow problem. Damn!!
