Count me in as well. The unit is at the dealer now for repair following our first trip. Rv was built 4/2015 so possible in the dates of affected dometic units.

In post #69 by "TURBS" a white wire nut looking thingy. These are to be crimped onto the wiring when installed properly. The key word is "properly". When my first Dometic 15K unit went out in March of 2015, the camper was purchased in January of 2015, two of those supposed crimped connectors just fell of when the technician took the inside cover off of the A/C. He showed them to me and showed me where they were crimped barely at the outer end of the connector. He stated that they could have fallen off at any minute and exposed the ends of the 115 volt AC wiring. He replaced those connectors with regular screw-on wire nuts then wrapped those with electrical tape.

Looks like I'm going back for another replacement. Noticed a few weeks ago the unit was struggling to keep up with cooling the trailer during the day but at night it seemed to work OK. I've been doing some mods inside in the afternoon and started to notice it wasn't as cool as it should have been. Friday I noticed the vent temp at 64 and that was at 5:30 in the afternoon with the sun blocked by my shop. Anyway outside yesterday putting window tint on the windows and it was hot, inside and out. I got these temps: 11:22 AM 81 inside, 91 outside. 12:26 PM 87 inside, 94 outside with vent temp at 66. At 4:36 PM it was 91 inside and 93 outside. At 5:37 PM it was 93 inside and 91 outside with the vent temp at almost 70. This morning it was 73 inside and 83 outside but the thermostat was set at 68 so the unit should have been running but it wasn't. These units seem to slowly go down and then just quit cooling. I'm going to try to see if I can get the dealer to get Dometic to just credit me for another brand of unit. Otherwise, I'm going to swap it out myself and be done with it. Tired of dealing with this issue.

Heard back from Dometic and they apologized for the number of failed units and offered to upgrade me to a Penguin unit. I've already made up my mind to swap to the Coleman brand 15,000 BTU and pay the difference of about $250 for the new control wire, thermostat, interior cover/filter, and labor. I did send a reply to Dometic requesting they cover the cost difference but have not heard back. Apparently they are still having trouble with the "3 to 5 percent" of the affected units even beyond what they had expected, as the current unit was outside of the date period. It goes to the repair center July 5th.

2nd Replacement for me

First - I apologize in advance if I already posted on this thread

I have a Dometic 15k with heat pump. We bought our unit new 6-18-15 and was an ordered unit. The AC never cooled very good. In Sept. last year it literally froze up at a FROG rally and my dealer was there. The unit was actually blowing water thru the ducts. It got replaced 2 weeks later.

This past May on our way to the Mayberry rally it would barely cool again. Fortunately a great mobile tech in Mt. Airy came out within an hour of calling him, ordered a new unit and replaced it the next day. Dometic in South Carolina was out of my model so I got a free upgrade to a Penguin. I am keeping my fingers crossed this one will last more than a few months.

I keep the MH plugged in to shore power at home and set the stat to 88 to keep it from getting too hot. My 99 Terry had a Coleman Mach that was still cooling good 15 years later when I sold it.

In my opinion these POS Dometics should have the warranties extended or their should be some kind of class action suit. Otherwise it will be my nickel to replace it every year when it stops cooling. I am not certain, but my wife developed a coughing spell while at the Mayberry rally and I think it may be related to water sitting in the ducts. I now need to have them checked for mold.

they leak out the refrigerant slowly over time , in use the coils heat up opens the bad joint and you lose a little then when shut of it seals . can take a yr to lose it all. to bad they are having these problems . mine has been in use for over 14 months , and the th is almost 2 yrs old from built date and no issues . guess i got lucky .also most the bad units are coming from mexico it's what you get when you go for cheap labor

Dropped my trailer off yesterday and found out they are replacing my 15k unit out again under warranty. However, there is a 2-3 week backorder, so it will cost me a week vacation we had planned also.
