Dometic 2193 refrigerator

We are gearing up for the first trip with our 1950 popup. I was checking the operation of the fridge and i was able to get the pilot light lit for the LP operation. But wasn't sure about the AC and DC operation. I have the 1950 connected to shore power and turned on the switch for AC and cranked up the dial to 7 but didn't hear the fridge turn on? Did the same for the DC and nothing. I read the manual twice and figured I'd ask for some advice here, cause it didn't say if it was supposed to kick on like the fridge in my kitchen.

I am new to the pop up world so I am learning as I go.

Thanks in advance

You wont hear it.Check the freezer and see if it is getting cold if it is you will be ok also you may want to buy a small temperature gauge so you know how cold your fridge is getting cause it will freeze your food and allow several hour for it to get to temp.Good luck and have a good time and enjoy camping life

Thanks for I will let it run this morning and check it when i get home from work.

Is there supposed to be a black film on the fins inside the fridge?

This will be my 4th season with my 1910 pop-up. We had a problem in year 1 with a faulty LP detector that woke us up in the middle of the night (and likely a dozen of our neighbors). Year 2 brought us a loose wire in the fridge that would randomly shut it off. Of course it was out of warantee so $100 went south. Year 3 greeted us with a burned out power converter, a leaky roof vent, and another $200 down the tubes. Can't wait for another season of surprises. One thing I can see already is that this season is going to bring a lot of elbow grease to catch up with all the rust. I hope you have better luck than I did.

it's not mildew. it's almost like soot.

Sounds like black mold. It likes dark humid places. It's not harmful but sure looks ugly. The bleach solution will take care of it. Be sure to rinse the aluminum fins with fresh water after bleaching them a time or two.

had the pup plugged into shore power all weekend and it didn't seem like it was keeping the food cold at all.

we only had a carton of eggs, some juice and milk in there. it felt warm. but when i had a drink of the juice it was ok, it wasn't warm and it wasn't really cold.

would i benefit from a cooling fan on the outside as well as the inside?
