Dometic AC/Fan issues

Hi,

I have a 2018 Grey Wolf 26DBH. At times with the fan or AC on low and high speed, the unit will just randomly shut down. There are no error codes on the thermostat and both the compressor and fan will turn off. I have to cycle the fan speed at the thermostat which is a touch model and then it will run again. Sometimes it will run and not reproduce the issue for days! Has anyone else experienced this? I appreciate any help or ideas!

If you have the ďfanĒ set on hi or low, whatever that speed is is how the ac blows. So if itís on hi, it will blow on hi until it reaches set temp then will shut down until temp changes enough. On auto, it will cycle between them.

This is if I am understanding the issue correctly

This is a known issue with the cap touch tstats pre 2019. If you call dometic and tell them your a/c is acting randomly they will almost always send a new faceplate.

Dometic sends my company 6 faceplates at a time when I tell them i'm running low, no questions asked.

Actually if the fan is set on HI or LOW the fan will run continually never shutting off and the compressor will cycle on and off according to the set temp

Can I chime in and ask for help too? I have a brand new R-Pod 195 that we took out for the first time this past weekend...so all is BRAND NEW! Well, the air conditioner is doing odd things. It runs for the most part...until it reaches set temp...then most of the time it will not run again. Our last night I decided to put the fan on (permanent) low to see what it would do. It ran for about 5 minutes and stopped...fan and compressor. I got up turned it off at the thermostat and it started back up and ran for awhile and then everything shut off again. Overnight it came on 2 or 3 times for a very short period of time. When we got up the next morning it had not run for quite some time. Turning off the thermostat showed the temp in the camper at 82. The thermostat was set on 77. Turned it off again at the thermostat and back on (this time on 76)...ran non-stop until we broke down about 5 hours later. I can take it in to the dealer in 2 weeks...then may be 2 weeks before they look at it...then warranty approval and wait for parts...could be a total of 6 weeks or so. This is insane!! I just sent a message to Dometic for help but have not heard back yet.

I suggest you call Dometic directly! You get a lot more movement in a shorter amount of time by calling.

Mr. M is right. I set my fan on low at night to blow air on me while in bed. The ac compressor cycles as needed to maintain temp but the fan blows constantly. Actually most all thermostats work that way.

Sounds like yours may have an issue...

MR.M is correct. Additionally when fan speed set to AUTO and A/C is selected the fan speed will initially run at high till temp is within about 3 to 4 degrees of set temp then the fan speed will automatically revert to LO speed. It will then automatically run the fan at whatever speed is needed (HI or LO) to satisfy the temp setting.

I agree when the fan is set to Low or High, my fan runs continuously and the compressor cycles on/off per call from tístat.
If fan is on auto, it will turn off when compressor turns off. However, there are many times the fan will shut off and almost immediately restart at the other speed. The compressor keeps running during this cycling. The unit may cycle 6 to 8 times until the tístat is satisfied and the compressor stops.
