Dometic DMR702 problems

I have a 8 month old unit that we have used a few times. This weekend we went to a park about 6 hours south of us. The Refrigerator is not cooling very well, freezer seems to be fine.

I had it sitting in my driveway for 3 days prior to departing and it seemed to be working pretty good. We got here and the Refrigerator is not working well at all.

It is danged Africa hot! Was 100 yesterday with about 70% humidity....

Any ideas on what to look at ?

Thanks,

There are several factors at play here. Outside temp, inside camper temp and the setting on your thermistor. The finn looking thing at the back of your fridge. That is the way an absorption fridge regulates cold to the fridge part.
I am not familiar with that Dometic model, but if it has that thermistor, that needs to be adjusted, since you are in such extreme temps currently.

There was another poster with a problem with a DMR702. You might want to take a look at that thread to see if any of the symptoms/suggestions apply to you.

Thanks for the replies, the fridge is working fine now that the temps have cooled down. I guess 100 degrees with a feels like temp of 115 is too much for the unit to handle.

Thanks again

When the temps get that high the refrig will really struggle if the sun hits the side of the camper were frig is. Mine works fine as long as I kept the cupboard door open as it sits right next to the refrig on the left side of the camper. Mine does not have the thermistor on the fins. My camper is a V-Lite 30WRLIKS Later RJD

Make and model of the RV? I ask because a DMR702, or any absorption fridge for that matter, usually works better when its vented through the roof than if its installed in a slide out and vented through the wall. Doing fan mods is usually the only thing that solves issues with fridges installed in slide outs.
A lot of the time RV manufacturers do not follow the fridge manufacturers guidlelines for the size and arrangement of the ventilation cavity behind or above the fridge, especially in slide outs, which compounds cooling issues even more.

My unit is a 2016 Flagstaff Classic Super lite 832 IKBS with the unit in the slide. Vents out the side of the slide.

Read through this thread.

Dometic fridge wide temp swings

After having bad results the first trip with the DMR702 in our Roo with the electric element crapping out, on the second trip the thing worked too good. It was on the sunny side of the trailer and the temps were in the 90's but our problem was getting it not to freeze things on the top shelf. Its temperamental to interior circulation and arrangement of food. Ours is not in a slide out. I think the fan mod would be a benefit in your case.
