Dometic fridge fan

Just picked up our 2011 2902SS on April 30. The Dometic Fridge fan is extremely noisy. Anyone else having this problem. I am think about replacing it with an after market quieter fan(s).

No fridge fan noise at all on mine. On a 2011 model sounds like a factory defect to me.

Let the dealer replace it under warranty.

Now I can also add water pump failure to the list!

In the back outside where the tubes are. It comes on when it gets hot in there to help with the cooling efficiency of the fridge, except mine is so noisy it wakes you up at night. It actually makes more noise than the furnace blower!

Is that something new? I don't have a fan on my fridge and I have a 2008 motor home.

I was told its a new thing they put in to help with the cooling when it gets hot, and it was hot this weekend. I actually put a fan in my 2001 Shamrock to help during the hot weather, I used 2 muffin fans with thermocouples that would control them. I also had an on/off switch on the fans. Sort of like those solar covers for your fridge to vent out the heat. http://www.campingworld.com/shopping...t-system/47888

Where did you get the thermocouple and are there different temperatures that are available?

The thermocouple was attached to the fan leads (they came that way), so as it got hotter in there the fans turned faster. I will see if I can find the company that I purchased the fans from and post the link, its been a few years since I did that upgrade

I believe this fan is similar to what I used a few years ago. Its a good web site I am going to look around for a new fan for my fridge if my RV dealer tells me its going to be weeks before he can fix my "new 2011 camper" http://www.coolerguys.com/840556091172.html

Is this one 12v? I don't see where the voltage is stated.

I think the fans listed are all 12 volts unless specified, but I would give them a call or e-mail before I made a purchase.

I have a 2011 SV291. I have the same cycling fan noise. I believe the fan is actually in the vent hood and draws current from the 12v terminal at the refrig. control wiring.. It cycles on and off and makes the back bunks non-sleepable, very annoying. this our first trip so I will be complaining to the dealer on our return.

My dealer told me that if the fan works then they wont replace it. I spent about $10.00 for a new fan and less than 2 hours to replace it. It would cost me a lot more to drive back to the dealer (fuel and time) and have them replace it.

Angry Dometic fridge fan

I have a 2010 Rockwood 2604 with the Dometic DM2652 fridge, and have the same noisy fan issue - keeps me awake at night and is irritating when sitting outside with its constant cycling (15 sec on; 30 sec off) - does this even when the temp is low (50 deg). The dealer is saying Dometic says the noise is "normal". I bought the trailer for quite relaxation - not with an irritating noise. Guess I'll continue the fight...

yvesm: How did you replace the fan? The dealer said it would be an all day issue, since they had to pull the fridge out to get to the fans...

It was easy. My son helped me take out and put the fridg back in. It took me from start to finish about 2 hours. The fan that they use is a low end 12 volt fan that is real noisy. The fan is an option to the fridge so if you want you can pull the fuse in cooler weather, its located outside behind the vent. If you look here http://www.forestriverforums.com/for...ge-6674-2.html at the end of the post you will see images of my work. I used a variable speed silent fan that speeds up as it gets hot.
