Dometic Fridge Issue

Just returned from a camping trip, had issues with the fridge second day in, started the fridge 24 hours before we left, loaded it up the next day, switched to gas for the drive to the campground, switched back to electric once at the campground. Second day in the fridge was luke warm, the freezer was great, froze bottled water just fine. I switched back to gas for several hours with no change, this thing has a temp sensor inside that is mounted to a plastic slide that is mounted to one of the fins, not sure how this works, because when I slide it up to increase the cold setting the sensor and unit both slide, I am assuming the sensor is suppose to slide with in the mount. Any ideas out there. THis unit is only 7 months old.

Take the plastic slide off then move sensor to top of slide then reinstall on highest point of aluminum fin .

The sensor and mount can be slid up or down or moved to another fin. I do not remember wether it is up or down or right or left for colder. You can do a search and you will find the info as to which way.

Did that also, tried about everything under the sun, does not make sense to me that the freezer would be fine but not the fridge.

Diagram indicate to slide it up for colder, did that no real change.

How many times per day did you open the door, and for how long? You can't around and drink a soda with the door open, or spend time looking for what you want out of the fridge, they don't work that way. You have to open it, grab, and shut it. The only real cooling is the freezer portion, the rest cools down from the cold off the freezer. You also can't be putting a bunch of hot stuff, (drinks) in it at one time, so when you get ready for a soda, have one to put back in before you open the door. The way you are parked, sun on the outside wall where the fridge is, will affect how efficient it is.

Not trying to say you don't have a problem. Get a cheap thermometer, I use one for car AC work, turn the fridge on, and go away for 24 hours. Come back and read it, then try to adjust. Once adjustment is made, don't check for 6 hours or so. Once you have it at 38~40 degrees, load it like you do when you camp, and check again in a few hours. Time consuming, but the only way to know for sure.

Air flow can make a difference too. Most likely not the problem but double check that the door is closed completely. Suggest using two thermometers - one for freezer and one for fridge. I have run into a problem with the fridge being warmed when the trailer was not level enough.

If possible it wouldn't hurt to have it checked out by your service department.

My fridge is a fixed temp fridge RM2652 Dometic. I bought a variable adjustable thermistor made by Dinosaur Electronics, installed an thermostat controlled fan in the chimney. yesterday at the campground, no shade 101 degrees, fridge a nice 36 degrees. Problem solved.

You may have a bad cooling unit. The first one in my 365 went bad and the frig went past -15* while the fridge stayed around 45-48*. Cooling unit changed out and it worked fine for about 4 months then did it again. Replaced by Dometic with one that has a fan on the back(like ones in slides) and it works fantastic. Better than anyone of the 3 we've had. You may also want to look down from the top to see if you have an ammonia leak that is visible.
