Dometic refrigerator working igniter keeps clicking

I have a Dometic Model 2652 refrigerator that started on gas mode just fine and has been running for several days now at a constant cold temperature, but every couple of hours I can hear the igniter click 3-4 times. I don’t think it’s ever stopped running and is having to restart but it’s so sporadic that I haven’t been back by the panel to know for sure. I do know the temp has been a constant cold and it’s running every time I check it.

That’s not normal is it? Any ideas/thoughts are appreciated. Thanks.

I don't,believe there is a constant flame. I believe as temps inside require, it starts and stops as needed. Just like the compressor type, on/off.

My mistake. The flame was going out. I really thought the flame was constant in the past (I’ve had the trailer for three years!) but I did a test when it was out by holding the temperature sensor inside the fridge and it would trigger on. I guess I just never noticed it reigniting before. It usually only took one tick to restart, but sometimes 3-4.

Dometic refrigerator working igniter keeps clicking

When first start up if I’m using Propane I get air out of line by using stove burners inside so not take so many tries to light it. Once lit should just light pretty quickly the next time.

You're not at a higher altitude than normal are you? I had the clicking and it would never light when we were in the Smokey's. Learned (after paying a mobile RV repair guy $150) that the igniter was a fraction too close to the gas source to properly light...he bent it back with a pair of long needle-nose pliers in 2 minutes and it never missed a lick from there!

I was at about 3500’. It never clicked more than 3-4 times, and usually just once. It’s just that I was under the (apparently false) assumption that once it ignited the first time, the burner was supposed to stay lit all the time. But it makes perfect sense that it cycles on and off as demand for cooling dictates.

Here in Colorado, our camping altitude varies from less than 1K ft (Texas and Nebraska) to 9.5K ft (yesterday at a state park in Colorado). Normally, we are around 6.5K ft. The number of clicks for the fridge to start ranges from 1 (low altitude) to 5-6 at high latitude.

That's why regulator settings are key to the function of all of the gas appliances. I've had to adjust the regulator to get my furnace to light properly. I had to reduce the outflow to stop a rich mixture situation. It has worked well since. My fridge would periodically not light when we were camping at 8500 feet. Haven't been up there this year, but since I adjusted the regulator have not had any "no lighting" situations.
