Dometic RM2652 Dealer "FIX"?

A friend has a Dometic RM2652 that freezes nicely, but the reefer stays at room temperature.

The dealer says that the factory recommended repair is a flue fan.

I Call B.S.! If the reefer portion of the box doesn't cool, doesn't that mean that the reefer part of the expansion system is plugged up?

The only way that I can see a fan helping is if they drilled a 3" hole between the freezer and reefer chambers and blew cold air down to the reefer!

Any ideas?

He's on a "Special Gov't Program", and I'm going to the dealer with her tomorrow (Saturday).

They have a daughter who is on chemo, and has to be sure that her infusion meds are kept below 45-degrees until used, but not frozen.

Heeeelp!

An ice cooler will keep meds and beer cold but not frozen for a long time.
Just a bag of ice per day.

2nd-- is this a new trailer or did the fridge used to work at one time?
Are you sure the lower part is actually ROOM temp???
There is only one ammonia system for both parts of the refer.
If the freezer is getting below freezing the lower part would most likely be
getting at least cool. I'm not saying it's cool enough just asking
if it's truly room temp in the lower part.

Some new installations do not have enough clearance in the "flue" area and
either need the obstructions removed OR a flue fan added to increase cooling
capacity.

Hopefully her dealer really does know what they are doing and will be able to
fix it.
Good luck.
We'd love to hear how it turns out.

There are two expansion chambers, one for the reefer and one for the freezer. The reefer is at, or above, room temperature. We tried fans, placing ice packs in the lower area, and several other 'fixes ' to no avail.

The unit is two years old, and had the same problem at about six months. They didn't tell them what was done to make it work for the next while.

I think there is something plugging the orfice in the reefer portion.

i don't think there is but one expansion area. once the freezer cools down, the amonia goes on down to the frig section.
if u aren't cooling with a 2 yr old frig, something is wrong. u may have a small leak.
from my experience with a leaking frig, i didn't smell it. i got to noticing that it took all night for it to cool off at first.

possibly the reason i didn't smell it is that the frig is sealed off from the inside of the trailer and the leak was slow enough.

if u have one of the recalled units, they were recalled due to weak welds (potential of cracks?). the fix consisted of temp (around boiler) shutdown sensors. nothing was done to correct the problem.
