DVD plays black & white only

I found a thread from 2012 but there was no fix. TV plays normal color picture unless we put in a dvd then picture is black & white and grainy.

Anyone find a solution for this problem yet?
Thanks.

Could be a loose connection. Check outputs on DVD and inputs on Tv. It would help to know if your using aux input or playing the DVD on a channel - normally 2 or 3.

Must be a retro unit, sorry that was my first thought, this sounds like just a bad connection.

Yup. You probably have RCA connections hooked up component in, instead of stereo l/r and video. Look at the rear if the DVD player and then the TV. Should fix it easy.

This is exactly your issue. Plugging a composite RCA video (yellow RCA plug) into the component input of your TV will give you a black and white picture.
