Entertainment System Speakers

Got a rather strange question regarding the entertainment system speakers. I have had a Blue Ridge 3600RS for about a year and am questioning the location of the speakers.

Our previous RV was a Open Range TT that had 6 stereo speakers; two outside in outdoor kitchen, two on the ceiling in the kitchen area, and two more on the ceiling in the living area, all individually controlled by pairs. The Blue Ridge has 6 stereo speakers as well; two outside in a fold-down mount in the basement, and four more on the ceiling in the living area. The two outside are controlled by that pair and I had always assumed that the four in the living area were controlled by the other two switches on the entertainment center.

I have a severe hearing loss but I had noticed the speakers connected to switch "B" just never seemed loud and figured that switch controlled the two close to the entertainment center while switch "A" controlled the other two in the living area (switch "C" controls the two outside). It is difficult for me to determine when switch "A" is on just how many speakers the sound is coming from.

During the monsoon today I decided to try and figure out if I had lose connections at either the control unit or the speakers. After removing the control unit and verifying that all connections were good I got a step ladder to get to the ceiling speakers. That close I can tell if sound is coming out by feeling the speaker baffle and noticed that all four in the living area operated from switch "A" but when I turn off switch "A" but leave switch "B" on, I can hear faint music coming from the TV area.

I pulled the TV out from the cubby hole (it is mounted on a swivel) and disconnected it. The sound continued. My RV has a fireplace below the TV so I opened the door for the slide-out desk top located between the TV and fireplace and low and behold, the sound is coming from the area behind the fireplace. Maybe it is supposed to be that way but it just does not make much sense to me to install speakers behind the fireplace when you have them on the ceiling directly above.

Has anyone else noticed this on their Forest River RV?

Thanks,

On some FR products including our Berkshire, the Sub-Woofer is behind the fireplace.

Do you, by any chance, have speakers in the bedroom ceiling? My FW has the 3 buttons (A, B and C) also. The A button controls the living room speakers, the B button controls the speakers in the bedroom, and the C button controls the outside speakers.

Thanks for the replies.

Must be a sub-woofer then. No, we don't have speakers in the bedroom.

I guess each manufacturer has their own feelings and desires about speaker locations and how they connect them.
