Eureka Yellow Jacket vacuum

Hi folks - Wondering if anyone has ideas or solutions for the following. We have central vacuum system on a Palamino Sabre 34TBOK-6. It is a Eureka yellow jacket. I changed out the bag for the 1st time and now it doesn't work. I dont think there is a mechanism that overides not to run if the cover is not put back on correctly.

Any ideas? Has anyone had this issue?
Thanks in advance for your input.

Can you define, "it does not work"? Like it doesn't come on? It doesn't suck?

The way that it is installed is:
- There is a 120v power from the vacuum to a plug.
- There are 12v lines running from the vacuum to the wall outlet.

If either of these are disturbed, it's not going to turn on.

Actually, yes it does need to be put on correctly. We have the same. Was checking something out years ago and found out it would not run unless the cover is in place. It's all plastic. How it knew, I have no idea.
