My grill mounts on the door side of the camper under the edge of the awning, and I have had no problem with smoke or heat going in door or grease on the awning. I do keep window above the grill[kitchen sink window] closed while cooking on grill as smoke will enter if open. As for quality and cooking quality of grill, I find this grill awesome, I have an weber at home, I took it the first few trips till I was used to FR grill, I leave Weber at home now, its not any better and a pain to setup on table at campsite.

We have the FR grill on our mini-lite ETC-181. We keep the window above the grill closed while grilling. I like the grill but it is not wide enough to use the Coleman griddle for breakfast. Also same issue with top rack space. Overall at good but small grill.

if smoke and fire were truly an issue with these grills, they wouldn't still be around, for the past 20 years.

FYI, the manual that comes with it says not to use it with the awning extended over top of it. Having said that, I have used it with our awning extended and had no problems. If you have a breeze blowing outside, I doubt that heat would be a serious issue, since it would be dissipated, and the distance between the grill top and awning is sizeable. If you grilled something which gave off a lot of smoke, that could become a cleaning issue for the awning, I suppose, but I try to avoid using the grill with the awning out, and the few times I've violated it, it has not become a problem for me. Not that I recommend violating their manual's instructions, of course, but my personal experience to date has been that you can do this on occasion with the use of some common sense and live to tell about it. ;-)

I've cooked everything from hot dogs to steaks to grilled peppers to cedar planked salmon on it, and it works great, just a bit slower than my full size grill at home. My only complaint is that the small top rack is so close to the lid when closed that very little will fit there without contact when you try to close the lid.

I must have a complete different grill supplied by FR with my Sierra, than everyone here on this thread. The grill that I have, is stamped from a piece of tin, has handles that feel as if they will pull the screws through the sides, and 2 cheaply chromed grates. Weber sells an equivalent model, with slightly better handles, for about $45, and I wouldn't even consider that as an acceptable grill. Maybe I'm just overly picky about my grills, but if what I have is the same as everyone else, I just don't get it.

Forest River's MSRP for that grill on a new trailer is $145, but if you consider the discount on a new trailer, you probably end up paying around $115 on a new trailer.

I didn't know that the grill was an option because my grill came with my 2006as standard equipment and now that my Rock Wood is in the junkyard from a falling tree I still have the grill and it has never been used and now I don't know what to do with it.

I wonder, if you buy a new trailer but don't order the gas grill option, is the gas line for the grill still run back to the right side of the trailer where the grill would go, had you ordered a grill?

On my new camper I have a quick-connect line that is standard on the right rear but I am sorry to say it is not a FR. Check with the dealer and ask them if it is an option, it may be standard as mine was and the brochure that I had pointed it out as part of the package.

My sidekick also said to not use under the awning- I always put in the awning or move the grill out away from the awning and set on some bricks or rocks or something.
-I just fugure taking these precausions could save me a few hundred $ for a new awning, so I don't chance it!

I have the rvq grill that came with my Surveyor 295. Replacing it this spring with the Weber q 120 after I pop off the regulator and add the quick connect. I think the rvq grill is junk based on the few times I used it.

I used to have a grill that hung on my first 5ther with quick connect. I was always cleaning the splattered grease off the side of my trailer and always smoked the inside of trailer. So I stored it and bought a Camp Chef Big Gas Grill. It came with a BBQ box and I bought the griddle for it.

I got the gas grill with my trailer and the quick connect is on the right front side. We use it the first time out we don't use it anymore because it's to hard to clean up and it slops up the side of the trailer.We rather have a stove.

I went to the Minnesota RV show this weekend. I stopped by the local Rockwood dealer and asked them about an outside stove to use with my Roo 233s. He showed me this stove that he said works with the Rockwood 1640LTD and 1940LTD popups. I asked about issues regarding high pressure low pressure compatibility and he said this one would be compatible to hook up to my quick connect on my Roo. Sounds like all I need to do is fork over the $199 and I'm ready to cook with my Roo just like its my old popup. Maybe you can find someone who has one and wants to do a trade. I'd love to do the same.
