Fridge drain hose

I have a Dometic fridge in the slideout of my RV. I took the top back panel off to clean out the dust, and there is a plastic tube hanging there with a plug in it. Looks like a plug, anyway. In my old RV, there was a hose that I assume did the same thing, and it was routed through a hole in the cover so the hose hung out about 6". Should this hose be hanging outside also? Did they miss something when they installed the fridge? And what about that plug? I didn't look that close; maybe there's small holes in it to drain. I will be looking again on my days off, but any help will be very appreciated! Thanks!

It has holes in it. Keeps the bugs out. It shouldn't have to stick out very far.

Thank you! Should it be sticking out of the cover? Mine is just hanging loose inside.

Mine just barely peeks out of the cover. Shouldn't really matter as long as the water goes where it's supposed to and isn't pooling inside the cover. It shouldn't like it is, but all you should have to do is poke it out the vent a little if it might be an issue.

It should be sticking through a vent hole to drain outside.

Yeah, I kinda thought so. It's not, and there's no sign of the water pooling; just got lucky, I guess. I will definitely re-route it outside. Thanks you guys, you've been a big help.

I did a lot of research and in the process came across the above video. The P-trap that she describes was not present in my original hose and did not work in the replacement; the catch cup in the fridge would NOT drain with a trap in it.

Furthermore, our fridge worked fine without a trap before and after the repair. I did it myself WITHOUT removing the fridge and WITHOUT using the same hose material.

Yeah, let it stick out a hole in the cover and try to leave a bend in it so that it holds a little water like a vapor lock. Keeps outside heat out of the tube and bugs from crawling in.
