Fridge keeps running????

After the last two trips in my 5er I shut the fridge off after running on the propane on the way home, the fridge seems to keep running, I also shut the propane tanks off, it still sounds like its running. I keep it in a storage lot so I am not able to stay for a long time to see how long it runs. My question is: Does the motor keep running for a cool down period or when I turn the switch to off should it go off instantly?
Thanks in advance for your comments.

You didn't say what kind of fridge but my Dometic shuts off when I turn it off. No waiting on anything.

Do you have a fan in the vent that might be wired direct that might be running?

x2 - normal

If the refer is in a slide, there are fans between the lower and upper grill... they are on a thermo-switch attached to the condenser and power does depend on whether the fridge is on or not. Its not a compressor motor... there is no compressor in an absorption fridge.

On our last trip, the fans were in an 'on' cycle just as we finished emptying it and stayed on when the fridge was turned off. They went off (and stayed off) once they had done their job.
