Fridge not cooling

Boondocking on Padre Island, Texas the freezer of our Dometic worked fine but the refrigerator part would not cool. Another camper had the same problem. Must be common. What's the 'fix'?

How long was the refer on? It takes a good 24 hrs to cool it. The freezer is always the one to get cold first.

The Fridge worked just fine for about a week on electric. Then for two or three days on propane it worked fine. Went down hill after that. We kept batteries charged. Opened it as little as possible. Got a bag of ice, put it in a tub on a shelf in the fridge. It finally moved back into the safe zone. The outside temp was in lower 70's. I keep reading about people putting fans in their refer. Is that what we need? We really liked Boondocking but really like having a refer, too!

If the refer was cooling adequatlely and now it's not, the only thing that comes to mind is a blockage somewhere. What make and model do you have and how old is it?

Make sure it is level. It is important for the flow of ammonia in the system from the boiler up to the freezer section and back to the boiler. The unit can stand more back to front unlevel but side to side is more critical.

You didn't knock the thermistor off the cooling fin did you?

Thanks everyone. We have a 2011 Lexington. It's a smaller refer, I cant get to the model # right now but it's the one with the little temp control that slides on a fin. I checked that first & just to be sure, slid it down then back up. The RV has hydraulic levelers & was level. It wasn't packed full of food. This is motorhome number four for us, our second new one, and we've had more problems than the others put together. Since the freezer worked fine through all this, I'm hoping it's an easy fix.

I have heard of this before by a member of the forum.

The heat extraction fins must not be blocked. Air must be allowed to flow over them to allow cooling of the entire compartment. Overfilling can cause this problem.

The thermistor wire has fallen off the fin or is bad.

The control board itself is bad.

Here is a troubleshooting guide you might find helpful.
