Fridge storage

We recently purchased a 30' Falstaff fifth wheel that was previously owned. We are new at RV ownership and thus subject to all sort of helpful information, whether we want it or not from friends and acquaintances. Most of it can be parsed as good or bad on it's face, but all is welcome. However this one I thought I should poll the forum on.

I have been told that it is not good to store the RV with the Reefer turned on. That the RV reefers were designed for limited use and will wear out quickly if left on continuously.

We live in southern Texas where the heat and the humidity are high. I store the RV with power on the RV all of the time. I run the AC and keep it set for about 80 deg to keep the humidity down. I also keep the reefer on automatic ( to run on electricity ) just because.

Unless there is a cooling fan , and do not think that there is in this unit, I do not think that there any moving parts and thus nothing to wear out unless it is the electric heating element( is it replaceable - any body know?). Anybody got any thoughts or advice about this reefer storage advice? ... Or any other RV storage advice? As above, all advice is welcome.
Thanks

to the Forums. I'm sure you'll hear opinions both ways. I don't leave mine running when I'm parked at home only because I'm not storing anything in there. If we're having a party I turn it on for additional storage for goodies requiring refrigeration. I also turn it on 3-4 days ahead when we're leaving on a trip. Main reason is if I have a problem I have a couple days to deal with it. Now if we were Full-Timers it would be on all the time and I'm sure there are plenty out there that will agree it's really up to you.
