Frigidaire convection microwave filter
I have a new 2012 Cardinal 3030RS. It has a Frigidaire convection microwave that is non-vented. The instructions state the charcoal filter used for non-vented, recirculated installations should be changed every 6 to 12 months depending on use-.
To replace the filter, the vent grill mounting screws must be removed.
Cardinal installed the microwave so that the mounting screws are under the trim board above the microwave. The screws are not accessible unless you disassemble the cabinet.
I was at a RV show this weekend and saw a number of Forest River RV’s with the microwave installed in a similar manner. Not only can you not replace the filter but you cannot replace the interior light when necessary. This all seems like a safety issue to me.
Does anyone have a recommendation on a fix for this poor design? Cardinal’s recommendation was to disassemble the cabinet to get to the screws whenever the vent grill has to be removed.
