Furnace ducting not joined from factory

I have been trouble shooting low air volume from one heat register. I noticed I had a lot of air coming through small penetrations from the underside (belly) of out TT while the furnace was running. I decided to open up the belly by taking down the plastic sheeting to be welcomed by warm air from the furnace and upon looking closer found two ducts not joined. The one end had the label on the duct which is usually the start of a new section. My guess is they never spliced it before sealing it all up. Anyways one more small thing fixed. I hope this isn't the way they heat the belly of these units.

That's actually exactly how they heat the underbelly. I had the same problem, two of my ducts were kinked and so no air flow up top but plenty in the belly. I've got a dedicated hose coming off my furnace that does nothing but pump warm air into the belly area by the holding tanks, which constitutes "heated and enclosed holding tanks". Probably only good down into the high 20s...

Two of the blocking plates that cover the unused ports on the distribution box of my furnace were laying on the floor behind the intake vents. Very little air coming from the heater vents, but lots of air coming from the "intake vent". Replaced both plates and reconnected the duct hoses that had been crushed during the build. The furnace now works fine with plenty of heat, no thanks to FR's quality control. The "fireplace with logs" actually produces way more heat than the gas furnace. We never use the furnace unless there is no option.

Home Depot has a tin connector for joining those together...and hose clamps
