Furnace ignition wire fix

My furnace burners don't always kick on. When it doesn't, I wiggle the ignition wire and I'm sometimes rewarded with a snap of electricity through my fingers BUT the burners will kick on.

What is this connection? Where can I find it? How do I replace it? It doesn't look like a crimp style connection and it needs to be heat resistant.

Thank you for your help!

That looks like a standard female spade connector. It is a crimp connector. Since it's red, it's for 18-22 awg wire.

You can find them at most auto parts stores as well as wally World, Lowes, HD, Agri Supply stores, Etc..

Since it appears to make connection when 'wiggled' I bet the wire inside the insulation is broken. If you try to pull the connector off the wire, is it solid or does it give like a rubber band? If it gives, the wire is broken inside the insulation.

You can cut the connector off the wire and if the break is right at the connector you just need to replace the connector. You can get a pair of cheap wire crimper/cutters from the places mentioned above.

Bama gave you some good information.

I'll simply add the poor connection might also be attributed to where the female spade terminal connects to the igniter.

if you look closely, there is another 'terminal' like connector that attaches to the igniter pin end that the red colored terminal slips onto. It may be loose there. A slight squeeze with a pair of pliers might solve the issue.
