Furnace Question - Is the Fan Supposed to Run Constantly?

Hi.

We are our in our 11' puma Unleashed and this is the first time we've run the furnace. Our trailer has the Dometic digital thermostat. When I turned the heat on, the A/C fan kicked on as well. The heater cycles through it's heating operation fine, bur the A/C fan keeps running. Is it supposed to?

When I burned off the oil on the heater coils last year, I don't recall the A/C fan running. However, I was under battery power last year where we are on shore power now.

I did screw up last weekend when I de winterized the trailer. I hooked up the battery backwards while on shore power. Would that have messed anything up?

Thanks.

Which Dometic is it? Is it the single zone digital and do you have the fan set to auto?

It is a single zone digital thermostat. When I turned the heater on, I pushed the On/Off mode button till the light at Furnace lit up. If there is a way to put the fan on auto, I don't know how.

Thanks.

Try this. Select fan and use the +/- to select AUTO - HI - LOW. Make sure it's set to AUTO.

HI or LOW will run the fan while the furnance is on. Good luck and let us know if that works.

By the way, I recall reading about this thermostat and that was the solution. Did you also get a manual with your trailer?

I'll try that.

We did get the manuals but they are at home and we are camping.

Thanks.

That worked. When moving the fan to auto, the heater worked without the A/C fan did not go on.

Thanks for your help.

Success! I love it when a plan comes together

Here's your manual. I am downloading all of my manuals to take with me this year. I tend to leave them at home sometimes, too.

Strangely enough, we had the same on our first trip out with our new FR TT. Had to wait until we got back to the dealer to find out about putting the fan in the AUTO mode.

This was really aggravating to me all last season. I am pretty excited to try it out this and not have the fan running all night long.
