Furnace ran out of propane

We recently had our furnace running and ran out of propane. We filled the propane and now the furnace won't come on. Any suggestions?

You likely have air in the lines now, turn on a stove burner and light it.

Let it burn foe a couple of minuets and then reset and try the furnace again.

Just ran all 3 burners for 5-7 minutes with furnace off. Turned off burners and turned on furnace. Still nothing

Keep trying. Could take a couple or few times to purge the lines at the furnace. Worth a try

Turn one burner on and light it while starting the furnace.

Is the blower running and is it clicking trying to light?

If it is, just keep trying.

Most propane furnace and water heater designs lock out after 3 failed attempts to light. Refer to the documentation for your furnace on how to reset.

Procedure for changing BOTH LP tanks.

1. Verify both tanks are empty
2. Fill both tanks
3. Re install both tanks
4. Go eat lunch
5. Light the stove eyes, try the water heater, fridge and furnace.

Why go eat lunch?

Because the regulator has a leak detect function. If all the lines are empty then it assumes there is a leak and will not turn on the gas. By allowing it to sit undisturbed for awhile, it slowly fills the lines and when it decides there are no leaks it will function normally.

Don't know how exactly the regulator works, but every time I have filled both tanks I have to let it sit for about 30 minutes before the gas will flow normally.

Agree with lighting stove and waiting to purge air.
