Furrion tv

I’ve searched but no help.

Our new 16 GeoPro came with a tv that I can’t get to work. I’ve turned on the antenna, checked the cable, and made sure the antenna is up. When I do a channel search, it comes up with nothing. I’ve done this a ton of times without any better results

Any clue what to check? Thanks!

First thing I would check would be the TV with a different antenna and make sure it works.

Then check the antenna connection with a continuity check to make sure they didn't wire the wrong wire from the booster to the TV or the wire hasn't been crushed/severed somehow.

Next cheapest thing would then be to replace the booster with a new one and see if that does it. If not, take the new one back.

Easier than all the above is to take it back to the dealership since it should still be under warranty.

Thanks! Since the dealer is 2 hours out and it takes months to see them, I’ll give it a shot with what you described. I’m noticing that RV’s in general lack quality checks. I’ve found very hacks wiring and mounting behind the panels, which is surprising to me.

I had one with the same problems. I got in touch with Furrion directly and got a new TV.

Absolutely. I checked the booster, the antenna, and cable. Nada when searching for air channels. And I know we have them, because I get them on another TV I have in the garage. ; (

Did you make sure to select over air and not cable when you did the search?

PDI? Do you mean the RV overview? If so, it was the worst overview I’ve had on such an expensive and detailed product. I can make a laundry list of things that were not pointed out. My fault for not doing prior research, but it seems like a good sales move to ease frustration. Seems like it should be “sales 101”.

You can use any FR dealer, an independent RV shop or mobile RV tech.
You have to get pre-approval from FR and be willing to be reimbursed, for the last two.

The PDI is the Pre-Delivery Inspection. This is where the customer goes through the RV with the dealer's rep and you check everything to ensure it works, and learn how to operate things you're not familiar with. Do you have the wall plate with two coax connections? If so, are you certain that the cable connection is tight and is hooked-up to the correct connection, i.e. "TV" or "TV1", and not AUX/SAT? You might also check the connections on the rear of the wall plate. Be careful not to short-out the 12V hot wire (red) on the amplifier.

At this point, I’m thinking about trying a new TV. I’m new to the RV stuff, so bare with my dumb questions.. but is there anything different for an RV set, than that if a regular home set?

Thanks!

There really is nothing different other than if you desire a 12 volt DC television that will work off your battery or a regular home 120volt AC television. I prefer the 120 volt because you can replace it cheaply if it does break. I would recommend getting an extended warranty on it.
I do have a question: Did you try another television in your trailer? I found out my television was defective while at a campground. I thought the coax connection was not working so one of the campground workers brought over a device that performed signal checks and channel scans. He went through all the connections, including the OTA channels the antenna picks up. That was how we determined the television was defective. You can do the same type of routines if you have another television. During the coax checks, we found a couple of crossed connections and a loose connection.

I hadn’t dug into the wiring yet, but it sounds like I should, before buying another tv. I read previously, that some of the Furrion tv’s were defective. I’ll see if one of the guys have a signal check device this weekend. Thank you!

X? on checking another TV.

The next thing is to check the inputs. My memory tells me on the input screen of my Furrion TV the first one on the menu is the antenna. Did you try any others? Did you make sure it is on the TV in on the back. Did you have an antenna finder app?

I had a bat-wing that raised up on my old unit... changed to a King head and worked much better. Newer unit has King (manta ray looking) that doesn't raise(just turns) that doesn't work as well as the King on a stick. If(IMHO) have the unidirectional ?? round antenna... that might be the issue.

This is a great trouble shooting list. I’ll start tackling this. Mine is a crank up version. Hope it’s working. 🤙🏼 I have the 2018 16 foot GeoPro.

Welp, I took a look at the cable inputs, and I’m a little confused. Does anyone know what is what? Dual cable plugs?

Seems there are multiple ways to plug the coax from the wall...

You will have to see where they go. I have two exterior inputs. One is for cable tv and the other is for satellite like Dish tv or Direct tv. The cake input connects onto the board with another coax from the roof antenna, The roof antenna has a 12 volt power supply line that is switched on and off depending on which source you use. You may have splitters to run the signal to other areas of the trailer. You really have to follow the cables.
