I'll be using this new unit in my 2016 F-250. Does anyone have any recommendations for:
1) What mount to use - Garmin's included windshield suction cup vs. a dash mount.
2) Case for storage - I intend to remove it from the truck, or at least keep it out of sight, when not in use so it's not tempting for any would-be thieves. So I want to get a case for it. Garmin sells a soft cover pouch for about US$17 but it doesn't look like it will hold any cables.

Good to hear that the newer units update faster.
1. On my units, I've always used the window mount. However, I put a half hitch knot in the wire to tie the display to the mount then run the wire over the top of the rear view mirror. I have my display at the top of the windshield to the left of the mirror. Easy spot to check but not blocking anything I need to watch while driving.
I had problems in the past when the unit falls off the window (and they will), the connection got yanked and eventually broke the plug inside the display. A friends dropped onto the screen and broke the screen. They often fall off when the windshield gets hot.
2. I never bother taking out the wires, just the display and I rarely put it into anything. At stores, it slips into my shirt pocket. Sometimes I take the mount off the windshield, sometimes I don't.
BTW, I've never been asked about where it was mounted - I used to travel a lot for work and have been in many states setup this way.

Magellan make this one that works for me. I put velcro on the suction pad of the gps unit and the flat surface of the holder for extra hold. I found the 760 LMT is heavier than others and too easily fell off the windshield when mounted to it . The holder weighs about 5 lbs so you don't have to worry that it would tip over. Got a couple of others for my other vehicles. Amazon has the Magellan Beanbag Mount for 19 bucks.

On my 2016 F150 in the center of the dash on top there is a tray with a rubber anti slip mat covering the bottom. Not sure if the F250 also has this. If so, pull up the Rubber mat and mount one of those 2 inch self stick disks right on the plastic below where the mat would be. Turn the suction device over and it holds well there. Then when you are not using the GPS you pop the mat back in.
For storage, I bought a bargain table zippered iPad case at Walmart. Works great and protects it fully.
Sorry no pics but I am not near my truck.

These mounts work very well. It fits into a corner of the dash cut out on my F250. My DW also uses a mount like this in her Traverse.

Garmin mount
Because I never have luck with suction mounts I recommend buying a friction mount to set on your dashboard from Garmin, less than $20 and stays where you put it. Besides falling from suction may damage the GPS

My 2015 has a small coin holder next to the radio and I was thinking to
mod it.
But, the DW says she wouldn't be able to see it. Me thinks she just likes to play...

Thanks for the replies. I'll try the dash mount that ben31 linked to. Sounds like my concern about the suction mount is warranted. I saw this video on YouTube that suggests the 760 doesn't fit well on that bean bag dash mount but if you guys are using it with no issues I'll give it a try.

Ram mounts makes a beanbag dash mount that works well for me. If I am in a questionable area, I just move it to floor and up against seat. Turn off screen also. Use 1 inch ball adapter for back plate of cradle and one inch knuckle. Sits at eye level right in center so I never have to look away from driving path.

Mount
I have expressed issues with the GPS but I found a new Love with "Proclip".
The vehicle specific Mount locates the GPS on the dash below the windscreen, close enough for easy data entry and viewing. Solid mount, no vibration and no falling off! I added a ball mount to the ProClip to finish the installation.

Iggy, I was curious about whether there was improved hardware, processor in the 770 vs 760 so asked Garmin online and the said they are basically the same. Processor on 760 sucks. Do u have any specifics on the difference in processors between the 2 units?

I got the Garmin "bean bag" dash mount that ben31 linked to and it works fine. The GPS bounces slightly on a bumpy road but not enough to be a problem. The 7" RV 760LMT almost rests on the bean bags so it's actually an advantage in that they prevent too much bounce on a really rough road. Thanks!

Mine lays on the beanbag, also. I'm glad it worked for you.
