Gas oven
I am new to using a gas oven. Anything that I should know before trying to bake or prepare a meal in the gas oven? Any tips or tricks?

i find with my oven i have to turn heat down by 25 degrees or so to more evenly cook food.
and as already said use install a pizza stone in there for all your baking needs.
AS there are many posts about this youll need to get on your hands and knees to light the pilot light and its never easy.

Yes, hands and knees, and it helps if you have someone to handle the gas controls while you handle the lighter. And, yes, we also leave our pizza stone in the oven all the time with great results, both in the camper and at home.

When using the oven -----------
When using the oven for baking biscuits or cinnamon rolls, to prevent the items from burning on the bottom, wrap the BOTTOM of the pan with aluminum foil to prevent from burning the bottom of the rolls or biscuits, if you are using a dark non-stick pan. This is a tried and true method that has been tested and works.
This info came from the cooking channel on TV, it works!

Real Men Don't Read Instructions
I about wore out a long lighter trying to light the pilot light the first time. Finally,(after you know who kept saying something is wrong with the oven), I actually read the lighting instructions. Found out you have to push the knob in while lighting! Duh!

I did the same thing.......
Now that I know approximately where to light, I can light myself while standing if I use one of those "snake" torch lighters. Just curve it right click and move it around a little.

Well, I tried to light the wrong thing. Held the lighter there for about two minutes. Then looked at the book and when I held the lighter to the right thing.....poof! Lit immediately and this was the third year we owned the thing? Just a poor memory, I guess....
