Genesis (aka Concertone?) junk?
I'm sending my new Genesis DVD/CD/radio etc player back for its first warranty replacement. After just two trips it stopped reading our DVDs (store bought, not copies). Hopefully the replacement will continue working longer than the first, but based on the posts I've read they are pretty much junk. Any input to a quality replacement that will fit the cabinet opening should our future experience with Genesis to be similar to our first?

Why label it as "junk" after your first problem? If you have to replace it a 2nd time, then yes, it may have problems. Just because there has been a lot of negative reviews of Concertone products, doesn't mean they are all "junk." We happen to have the Genesis 3.0 and ours has been trouble free since we picked up our TT last spring. Most are quick to post about problems they have but few post about things working the way they're supposed to. If you continue to have problems with your unit, please pm Bob Fields and he'll help you out.

Thanks for setting me straight about jumping on the "junk" label prematurely. For future readers, I retract the "junk" from my original post. :-) But, I would still appreciate any input regarding alternatives to the Genesis. I will be fair in my postings, and if my replacement Genesis is without issue I will be sure to share that experience as well.

Very well stated.
I know the Concertone issues have been all over the place. Some probably from bad installations, some from actual defective componants and some from the owner's not understanding the operations fully. I felt the same way with our Executive HTS-1000 DVD Home Theater System. We went through 3 of them before getting one that worked reliably. They all had different problems. The fourth has been in there now for more than 5 years and not one problem with it.
Oh course you know I just condemned the thing by praising it.

I totally agree, since the introduction of the Genesis units they seems to be pretty trouble free. About the only other system is a Jensen and you would give up 5.1 surround as well as the sub woofer output. For the record our Concertone has been very reliable save for the jumping video which Concertone provided a free fix to for anyone who had the issue.
As to the Jensen, my SIL and hubby have one in their trailer and I wouldn't trade our Concertone for it for any price.

Agree with others .... my ZX600 has worked well since first change out 4 years ago. Maybe you will experience the same.

I commented on a different thread concerning a bluetooth issue I had with my zx85. Bob Fields contacted me and was gracious enough to exchange my unit. I received it yesterday and will install it tomorrow. I'll check back and let you know how it works out. Thanks for your help Bob!
