GPS is COMPLICATED!!!!

I have had my Sunseeker 3170 for six months and I love it! However, today is the first I have used the GPS, basically because when I picked up my Sunseeker 6 months ago, I drove straight to an RV park and hung out there. Today, I travelled.

The GPS is COMPLICATED! I consider myself pretty technologically literate, but it was WAY complex for me. Someone who is not "techy" will have fits!

One of my big issues was I could not find a way to turn off the radio while running the GPS. Oh yes, you can MUTE the radio, but it does no good. You can't get to the GPS when the radio is on MUTE. Also, most any button you press after MUTE will UNMUTE the MUTE. I want to be able to turn the radio off when GPS is on. Why? If I'm trying to navigate around a complicated city like, oh, ALBUQUERQUE NEW MEXICO, I need to have NO distractions. You can turn the volume down, but I want to be able to turn radio OFF!

Also, on the GPS, the programming is very complex. On my portable Magellan, once you clue in the address, it "routes." On the GPS in my SUnseeker, there are two steps you have to do after that, basically, "route it here?" and "Is this your destination?" Both questions I consider redundant!

The screen has way too much information. It does have a nice feature that it gives you a "two turn warning." There are two arrows, one is for your VERY NEXT turn, and the second arrow is for the turn that comes after that, so you do get a warning if you have 30 feet to move to the right lane after making a left turn, or something like that. BUT, that contributes to the "too much information on the screen."

But again, my biggest complaint is that I want to turn the radio OFF when I am running the GPS. I don't want to just turn the volume down, I want to turn it OFF! Can't find a way to do that.

I have the same camper and gps. I discovered that selecting one of the optional inputs like av1 or av2 with nothing hooked up will give you a silent gps that will let you hear guidance voice when needed.
