Heat/Cool pump vs. Furnace and AC

We are considering buying a trailer and are wondering about the efficiency of a heat/cool pump. What is the maximum outside temperature that a h/c pump can keep the inside 'comfortable'? And, what would be the minimum outside temp?

Also, are there any MAJOR pros or cons for each? Thanks for your replies.

Heat pump much more efficient and should work until the outside temp gets close to freezing. The down side is you must have AC power for it to operate. The furnace will operate on 12VDC.
