Help Identify this outlet

I have a 1998 Forest River Gerogetown.
The enclosed picture shows a small black box that was pluged into the outlet above the passenger front seat. The TV was plugged into the black box.

Also what is the white connector below the plug in used for?

Thanks for all your help

There's a relay inside the box, which is energised by the ignition circuit, that cuts the ac power to the socket on the box. That's where the front television display is supposed to be plugged in. The intent is to kill power to the front TV when the engine is running, preventing the driver from watching video while driving.

Wow, good saftey feature. Maybe they should put one on all cell phones.

I guess the white plug in at the bottom is the one to the ignition.

If I just plug the TV into the outlet w/o the the black box, then the TV can be watched from by the passengers.
Is that TRUE?

Nope, not unless it's 12 volt. If electric, have to run generator to watch TV while in motion. But I'm not sure, that's before my RV time.

A generator or an inverter (that would run off of the batteries) would work.
