Help With iRV 66 and Satellite

Is there anybody here who is well versed on the workings of the iRV 66?

Right now, I have my satellite working well in my new Windjammer, but I have it hooked right up to the back of the TV from my DirecTv HR24 receiver with an HDMI cable, so my sound is only able to come from the TV's speakers. Is there a way for me to integrate my satellite receiver with the iRV 66? I want to be able to utilize the 5.1 capabilities of my satellite signal with the iRV 66 surround sound system.

I think there must be a way to do this, but I'm just not tech savvy enough. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Bruce

The IRV66 has two additional HDMI cable inputs on the rear of the stereo. By plugging in your HDMI cable input to that allows you to play the sound and video thru the IRV66 stereo.

Now, if you haven't replaced your IRV66 (if you have issues, I highly recommend you get it replaced with a new updated version) with that said, to remove the stereo you first need to remove the face plate, towards the bottom there is two slots that a small flathead will fit into. start from there and work your way around until it just pops off. Next 4 Phillips screws should be holding it place. remove those and stereo will just slide out.

The HDMI input is on the very top. Be sure to plug into to the input as there is two outputs as well. I hope this helps.

****info on replacing IRV66 found on this thread (see post #156)....I RV radio

Bruce,
My IRV66 may be different, but my TV that came with the trailer has a cable with 2 RCA phono jacks on it that connects to the back of the TV "Audio Output " Jacks. The audio output jacks (R=RED for right channel, and L=White for left channel) are connected by this cable to the rear input of the IRV66. When you turn the IRV66 on and push the "SRC" (Source) switch on its front panel you can go thru the various inputs to the IRV66. One should be labelled "TV Audio". That should be this TV audio output.
Hope this helps
Jim

Paul has a better solution. Then use your IRV66 "SRC" (Source) button to select the rear HDMI input.

I would think as you are using your satellite through the TV then all you have to do is go to the settings on the radio to make speakers work with tv. That what I do but not on satellite just cable. Also as mentioned therr are issues with this radio. I replaced mine last ffriday. thanks to Patrick Electronics. Later RJD

So, I just connect the HDMI from my satellite receiver into the HDMI input on the back of the iRV 66 and the iRV 66 will take care of getting the video to the screen and the sound to the 5.1 surround?

How, exactly, do you do this?

Yes. You will need to play with which HDMI is receiving the signal and sending it out though, but that just involves toggling between each HDMI source.
