I RV radio

Anybody have problems with the I RV radio. The speakers cut in and out like a bad connection. I have double check connections. I believe the unit its self is bad. Just wondering if anybody else has ran into this.

Talk to my dealer today. Forest River has admitted that there is a problem with the IR 33 but currently does not have a fix. Dealer told me that there is a software issue that they're working on. Sucks to have a brand new trailer with two of thee units in it and can't even listen to the radio or watch a DVD. You think forest river could do better than this.

IRV66 Technologies sound breaking up

I purchased a brand new Rockwood in December. The dealer installed 3 different stereos and has given up. I called Forest River and they don't care about the problem. No apologies or options were offered. I was polite and they were very short and somewhat rude on the phone. They said the stereos are from China and all of them are broken. They claimed it needs a software change and I should wait 3 weeks. A failure of this magnitude should not take 3 weeks to fix. Especially since I see some of you reported the problem in November of 2014. I have not been able to find an IRV direct contact yet. I don't think forest river can fix it. I am looking for a replacement stereo for a brand new camper that I have never used. I am frustrated just typing that last sentence.

I feel the same, I have not been able to use mine either. I contacted Mark Atkins with forest river. He told me the the dealers should be receiving replacement units in a week or two. My unit is at dealer now waiting on them. We shall see what happens. I agree with you, Forest river should be doing more than what they are about the defective radios.

Irv66

Thanks. I am calmer now. I will watch the posts for updates from other victims. A replacement unit makes more sense than a software problem. The Chinese manufacturer could simply email a zipped software change to be destributed by forest river. That would not take this long.

I read quest audio makes these radios but not sure. I can't find anything about the actual manufacturer. There is a you tube video of them using Bluetooth to control the radio but I couldn't get it to work. I have 2 calls into forest river which they have not returned. My dealer has been good but they are stuck in the middle. I'll take pics of the soundbar install and let you know how it goes.

The really messed up thing here, is that firedaniel and I have the exact same 2015 8327ss, and have completely different media units! I have the Genesis, and it has been flawless except for weak Bluetooth....

You know what's funny is the genesis and the IRV look like the same manufacturers. I wonder if the genesis unit is the newer replacement one that works?

My dealer said there are no compatible replacement from Forrest River. It sounds like that might also be incorrect. Last week, I was looking at other units myself. I have the megnadyne RV5090 from Amazon in my wishlist right now. With no clear information from Forrest river I am considering replacements. The 5090 does appear to be able to control the big base speaker in the bottom of the cabinet, but it has good reviews.

I put a Polk soundbar 5000 with wireless sub in last night. It sounds amazing. So much better than factory. I tied into the iRv outputs via the rca out on the back. Anything that plays through the IRV will play through the soundbar. Dvd plays via hdmi and sounds great. Soundbar has built in Bluetooth to stream audio.

The sub took a little work I pulled the factory pos out and put the Polk in the same place. I had to wire a plug too All in all it was pretty easy.

Do you just keep the factory speakers turned off and listen to the sound bar?

We had a 2013 with the Genesis unit, it was wired incorrectly when we got it so we couldn't play DVD's. The floor plan of our 2013 didn't work for us, so we replaced it with a new 8281 which has the iRV 66 stereo. When we got it I put a DVD in and the stereo literally ate it - no way to get the disc out. We used the radio and had the issue with the sound breaking up. Been waiting for almost 8 weeks for a replacement unit.

I picked up a replacement irv66 Saturday and installed it. My 2 month wait is over. It mostly works as it should. There is no more "skipping" in the sound. However the lowest volume setting is very loud. Sound setting 1 is more like a 10 or 12 on normal radio scale. It is good enough, I suppose. I had no other trouble with it. Now I just have to engineer a way to play a DVD in the bedroom.

I had the same problem where the speakers would cut in and out. The dealer called FR and got me a replacement which I installed today. It resolved the problem for the speakers cutting in and out but now the volume control does not differentiate between 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. After the 5 setting it gets gradually louder, but 1 to 5 is the same level and it's too loud. Called the dealer and they are contacting FR again.

Please post if they fix the volume problem. Mine has no change from 1 to 12 since they "fixed" it. I have not complained about yet. I will call them tomorrow about it. I wasn't going to, but I snowed in anyway.
