Ice buildup inside frig. ????
We have a 010 Cardinal and are having a problem with ice buildup in back of refrigerator on the fins. Any suggestions to correct greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!!!!

How quickly does it occur? And what kind of outside temps are you having?

I've noticed that our refrigerator does it when powered by gas. I keep it plugged in on electrical at home and noticed last time out when we arrived at the camp ground it has iced up while on gas. Thermostate settings seem different between gas and electical power. Just my opinion on our experience.

Once every 2 months. Temp is mid 20's nite to mid 50's most days

Our frigde runs on electric for 6 months straight on our seasonal site. I do have to defrost it mid season. I plan on installing a fridge fan this spring.

If its humid outside its going to freeze up. Even with circ air. These frigs use the old direct contact method of cooling, refridge cools aluminum fins, direct to air in box, very cold fins freeze moisture in air. New units of course use air flow and auto defrost heat exchangers.
Minimize the time doors are open or: I use a high power hair dryer once a month directly on fins. Turn off fridge, warm coils, dry and put groceries back on top shelf. Fridge only warms a few degrees by the time you get it back on line. Trick is don't let it get too far, for obvious reasons.

If you have 120 shore power, make sure your climate control switch is on.
In my model it is located in the fridge door frame.
It is 12 volt DC so make sure it is off if you are running on battery.
There is no difference in operation between AC and DC/Propane because they are only a source of heat to boil the ammonia in the coils. The "cooling" comes from the condensing of the ammonia gas back into liquid which is a fixed quantity based on the chemistry of ammonia.

Newer units (2011 or up) may not have the switch, BUT they all have a Climate Control System. See the new manual attached.
